So here we are.
The little impulse buy my parents made on a whim almost a decade ago when they were visiting the French Riviera.
2038 Boulevard de L'esterel. Antheor, France.
Situated an hour west of Monte Carlo between Cannes and St Tropez, it really is the greatest spot for a vacation home. Ever.
It is sad that this is only my third time here.
Even more sad that it is my final time here.
The house has been sold. The final remnant of what we had as a family. (Parents got divorced.)
The new owners move in the day after we leave.
Furniture had been packed up and shipped the day before we arrived.
Our caretaker and family friend, Marie, was kind enough to leave us mattresses to sleep on and wine glasses to drink from.
Burglaries are a huge problem in the South of France, probably since a lot of the homes are sweet vacation homes.
Our home too has been burgled two or three times.
As such, each home is equipped with a sweet security system that basically locks down the entire house with metal plates on every single window. It always reminds me of living in the batcave or something.
So...first thing, with the press of a button, was to take the house off lock-down.
Fun.
Kind of depressing though that we have no furniture.
We did, however, find a lucky four-leaf clover.
We decided, after our 12-hour cross-country trek, that we needed a day to just chill out and relax by the pool and take in the beauty of the riviera.
So we sat by the pool.
Took in the views.
And broke out some cheese...
...breads...
...meats...
...and of course, wine.
I think the Mediterranean is the best body of water ever.
Oooh. Also I read a book for the first time in forever and it was SO GOOD.
Everyone go read The Kite Runner.
love how you clearly pushed the cork into the wine bottle to open it.
