FLASHBACK: Smileyjohn & Jesse Take NYC: Engagements / Cruise Ship Party!
These are shots all from the last day of SJ and Jesse's last trip to NYC. It was was SO fun.
We woke up the morning after a big night out all giddy and giggly.
SJ wasn't having any of it though, so we left him to go meet up with AnnieAli for her engagement brunch. (Back then she had JUST gotten engaged, crazy it was like a year ago!)
It was a lovely brunch filled with laughter...
And wine...
And the most digusting, nutty, bloody marys ever...
Cafe Gitane is just loooovely though.
That night we stopped by ANOTHER engagement party...this time for Danny & Tevia.
They are now, of course, married!
After this we went home to change into fun clothes for our very own Cruise Ship-themed party. (The Costa Concordia disaster had just happened and we thought we'd do something really tasteless and FUN.)
Smileyjohn dressed as some peasant from steerage.
And of course we treated him as such...
We drank and waited for guests to arrive. But our party was not very well attended...
Although when people DID finally start rolling in, it was of course just the BEST and FUNNEST people ever!
It doesn't take much for us to have a REALLY good time!

I LOVE BROADWAY / Book of Mormon
So the Book of Mormon last night was, of course, INCREDIBLE.
I went with roommate Kayvon and it was so much fun not only to watch it again but to this time be able to watch as the audience roared with laughter.
We had found cheapo last minute tickets on Stubhub for $175 and pounced on them.
The vantage point mayyy have been better than last time. 2nd row Mezz!
I loved keeping an eye on the audience during the show.
There's nothing quite like seeing a group of grannies erupt in cackles when the cast sings out "fuckfrog on his clitoris-face!" (Yes, those are actual song lyrics.)
Going to shows is one of my favorite things about living in New York.
Every time I leave a show I just feel happy and inspired.
Working with actors on a daily basis, I've really come to appreciate them and their craft.
And in New York it's all about the craft.
New York actors are different from LA actors because they just love ACTING. Even if you're starring on a Broadway show, you're probably not making millions.
Most LA actors care about the craft, but they probably care more about the fame and the money. And there's absolutely nothing wrong with that. I LOVE fame and money. But in NYC, very few people go into acting expecting to be famous. They just want to act because they love it - the fame is a by-product of being an amazing actor.
And this cast is full of amazing actors. And when you see this group of people, singing and dancing and clearly IN LOVE with what they do, you just can't help but be inspired and happy and so proud of them for committing to doing what they want do and succeeding!
The original cast members all just renewed their contracts through 2013. You have to see this show. NOW.

Book of Mormonnnnnnn
Just found book of Mormon tix on stubhub for $175 tonight! (Last time we paid five-hundo.)
So excited.
I f*cking love this show.
Wish I could have found these tix when Smileyjohn and Jesse were here. They would have looooved it.
Instead we went to see On A Clear Day, which was TERRIBLE.

We woke up and went to Nice Green Bo, (formerly known as New Green Bo) for ChinaBrunch.
Then we headed downtown to the Statue of Liberty...on the way passing by "The Sphere", which used to stand between the World Trade Towers and was damaged during 9/11, but managed to be recovered semi-intact. It's a sad and beautiful thing, and it overlooks the Freedom Tower.
We boarded the Ferry to the Statue of Liberty, only to find out that the Statue itself was closed for renovations.
Smiley really wanted to climb up into her "hat".
:-(
A flock of idiot seagulls that had failed to fly south for the winter led us out to the statue. (What happens, by the way, to all the dumbass birds that don't fly south for the winter?...They freeze and die right?)
It was chilly, but a beautiful beautiful day.
Once on the statue grounds, tourist after tourist wanted to take photos with us.
We LOVES Lady Liberty and her hat!
Once back on the mainland, we headed over to the 9/11 memorial.
It's gorgeous and peaceful and really really sad.
Loves the Freedom Tower.
LOVES the memorial fountains.
There's also a museum with pictures and quotes and videos and tributes. We closed the place down.
Oh here's what The Sphere used to look like when it stood between the towers...
There were recovered pieces of debris...
And a wall full of the "Missing" posters that went up immediately after the towers fell.
And just walls of pictures of all the victims.
They did a really great job with it. And I think it's something everyone should check out. And to all those people roll their eyes at mentions of 9/11 or who are like, "That's so depressing. Why would I ever want to do that?" (People do say idiotic things like that.) I say, "Fools. These people senselessly lost their LIVES...it could have happened to anyone...the least you can do is go and pay tribute and remember them and be grateful for your own life..."
Anyway. It was closing time before we got to explore the whole museum. I want to go back and check out the rest of it.
But clearly after all this, we needed to do something a little bit uplifting. So we went home and watched Bridesmaids.
Then we went out and met up with Kate and Will and Eric.
Kate LOVES giants!
And then...it SNOWED!
We LOVES snow!!!
