My bestest friends Tee and Nan over at Little Beast named their new Chicken Parm Meatball (it was my brainchild) after me!!!!

I am SOOOOO EXCITED to try it in just over a month!!!!

18 hours in Amsterdam!

I landed in Amsterdam around noon on Saturday.

Got to downtown around 1pm, which left me some time to explore. (I've been here a few times, but the last time was like...wow...I'm just realizing...10 years ago.)

Amsterdam Centraal is probably the easiest major city to get into from its airport. It's just a 15 minute train ride which puts you at the train station which is in the center of everything.

Seeing as I'll be back here in April with Teebags, I didn't wander around too much. Everything still looks as I remember it. I just really needed fooooooood.

Decisions, decisions...

The choice was easy.

Oh god they were so good.

After my snack and a little more exploring. I went back to my hotel, the Barbizon Palace, and crashed.

Woke up at 5am (it was pretty easy...jetlag) and booked it to the airport for my 12 hour flight to South Africa.

Since Delta's partner, KLM, is headquartered here in Amstrydam, the lounge here is pretty awesome. They have a full buffet breakfast with pancakes and donuts and those yummy little deli meats and fresh rolls that European people love to eat for breakfeast.

YUM!

Puppies, Meatballs, and other LA Shenanigans

I love LA. I love love love LA.

And I love returning to visit. And I love introducing my friends and taking them on a tour of LA.

So when Kristen wanted to visit her bro who just moved to LA, I said let's do a trip together. So we did.

Have you seen the new mall at Santa Monica Place?

It is AMAZING!



We went to Meatballs and Chicken Marsala lunch with Kristen's mommy, who was also in town to help Jayman set up his new apartment.

Kristen loves meatballs almost as much as I do, which is partly why we are soulmates.





From meatballs we went to look at our next favorite thing...PUPPIES!

There's this great great great puppy store (not a pet store, puppies ONLY) at Westside Pavilion called Barkworks. It seriously is THE BEST.





Kristen almost got herself a little fluffball.



But alas, we were on vacation. And not just any vacation. Kristen's BIRTHDAY vacation!

For birthday dinner, we got reservations at Ago, Robert De Niro's West Hollywood mainstay.

K had the Lobster Pasta.



I had the with Steak, Truffle and Exotic Smushroom Risotto which tastes much better than it photographs.




And then we went to Venice to meet up with K's hilarious friend Anne (who currently stars in the new Saw 3D) and my hilarious friend Christian.



Anne took us for a ride in her new Bentley.



And then Christian lured us back to his caveman lair where we acted like idiots.

There's nothing I love more than gorgeous girls who make retard faces.






And then we stumbled home where Aunt Deb (aka Mrs Gastler, aka Kristen's mom) had made a fresh batch of her famous SAUCE.

Norway!

I arrived and didn't die a horrible screaming volcanic death!

Yay!

I must admit that when I saw on the in-flight planetracker thing that we were flying southeast of Iceland and northeast of England my palms started to sweat a little because you can definitely see a brown ashy haze out there somewhat obscuring the sunrise.

But we landed safely. Phew.

Just walking out of the terminal I noticed several giants.




I hopped on the super-efficient super-fast airport express train to downtown Oslo.




Followed signs toward the Freedom Forum HQ...





And arrived at my hotel...




All the event producers and coordinators were hard at work.





It's so nice to not really have to worry about anything and to just be able to wander around and capture candid shots. Event photography is fun because noone really has any major expectations except that you kind of just capture the event as it happens. It's kind of hard to mess up or do a crappy job. MUCH less pressure than shooting a wedding.

Today is kind of my day off before the event kicks off tomorrow.

I went to Ett Glass, the little restaurant next to my hotel.



Enjoyed a Pepsi Max.



And some homemade meatballs!



They were incredibly good.

And I was feeling so happy.

Until I saw the bill and it was 230 Kroners.

Which equals $38.90.

Almost $40 for Pepsi and meatballs. This wasn't even a "nice" restaurant.

NORWAY IS FREAKIN EXPENSIVE Y'ALL!!!
