Off to LA!

Hey guys!

Been a while.

My nose is pretty much healed.

I still blow out bloody snot once in a while, but swelling is gone, stuffiness is gone, I can BREATHE!

So exciting.

My recovery went very well. I had a lovely visit from Lady Di.

Got back into the swing of things this week with a ton of photo shoots.

And now I'm off to LA for two weeks (wedding in Santa Barbara this weekend and wedding in Santa Monica next weekend).

Delta's new transcontinental planes have put in new business class seats featuring personal cubbies with tons of legroom! My legs are SOOOOOO happy!

AND

The seats have a MASSAGE FEATURE!!!!!!

LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE DELTA.

Merry Christmas to me!!!

This morning I was on my way to Tokyo...but my flight through Seattle was way oversold. So amidst a sea of agitated holiday travelers, I volunteered to give up my seat in exchange for what they were offering: a $400 voucher and a later flight.

Instead, however, they handed me a $600 voucher, an earlier flight through Atlanta that actually got me into Tokyo an hour earlier AND first class upgrades all the way to Japan.

BEST! DAY! EVER!!!!!

Thank you Delta!!! Merry Christmas!!!!!!!!!!

----------------------------

Delta Atlanta is rocking a sweet new SkyClub.

Complete with a Beats by Dr. Dre lounge for customers to sample different headphones.

If you've ever flown to Asia, you probably know that they don't just give out upgrades on international flights, for some reason they're only sold, and somehow there are enough businesspeople/rich people who are willing to pay $4K-$10K. Even with my diamond status, I've never gotten an international upgrade. My ticket isn't even "upgrade eligible".

Just 2 days ago I had called Delta just to see how much it would cost to put my ticket in a higher fare-class so that I could use one of my systemwide upgrade vouchers (this weird Delta coupon that lets you automatically upgrade certain tickets that were basically already really expensive to begin with)...so that I'd be eligible for an upgrade... I was quoted a price of $3,400...on top of what I'd already paid for my ticket!

It's nuts!!!!!

But somehow with my travel "disruption" they were able to bypass all the stuff and score me a prime seat on the 14-hour flight from Atlanta.

And I will never be the same.

The new first class seats are individual pods, which look kind of cramped...

But are actually quite spacious! It made the 14-hour an absolute breeze.

I was able to completely stretch out...even had a little ottoman in the corner...

And these chairs come with a million customization options...including various tilts, lifts, supports, or the option to lie down completely flat.

LOVES a little side-table for all my things...

LOVES a desk and workspace and 20-inch monitor...

These private pods are awesome!

For lunch I ordered a japanese lunch set which came with assorted seafood morsels.

And a chicken...

And a noodle-snack. MmmmmmmMmmMMmmmM!!!

I've arrived safely in Tokyo. Now I'm exhausted. More adventures tomorrow!

NOLA tomorrow

I'm severely backlogged on birthday parties and other events of the past few weeks.

Sorry.

Been suuuuuper busy.

I was supposed to head to New Orleans today.

But I got to the airport and found that my flight was overbooked and so they offered me a $400 travel voucher to give up my seat and to take the morning flight tomorrow + upgrade. It was kiiind of a no-brainer.

They even hooked me up with fancy SUV service home and back to the airport tomorrow.

Delta is THE BEST.

NOLA tomorrow!

Diamond life begins

I'm off to LA to pick up Jesse and Smileyjohn!

The JFK-LAX upgrade used to be 50/50 for me because of the enormous number of people who do the bicoastal thing.

But not anymore. As a Delta Diamond I should hopefully be at the top of the list every time.

It's going to be a wonderful wonderful year.

I am now officially a Delta Diamond!

Diamond Flight to HK!

At the airport about to embark on my 21 hour journey to Hong Kong via Tokyo-Narita. Preparing for the onslaught of unabashed Asian staring.

After this trip I should hit Delta Diamond status, the top tier of Delta's Medallion Program.

What that basically means is I'll be paying regular airline prices to fly first class pretty much anytime I travel! Which is awesome, especially on those JFK-LAX flights because those seats are better than my bed and my couch combined. Yayyy. I <3 Delta

See you in HK!

Woohoo!

I hit Platinum on my flight to Vegas a couple weeks ago.

Today it's official!

#1!!!!

For the first time ever in my life I'm #1 on the upgrade list!

Usually I'm number 7 of 7. Or 8 of 13. So if I do get upgraded it's like just BARELY.

But today it looks like I will almost definitely get a good seat as there are 7 available and I'm #1.

Superhappyday.

This is epic because on flights between New York and LA they have the new international seats.

I love Delta!

I might even begin to forgive them for the last two awful flight experiences I had involving lost luggage and battling obeses for exit row seats.

Thank you Delta for pulling through!

Oh. Also. I got the iPhone 4 today. No waiting. Evan's roommate works at the Mac store and set a phone aside for me. WIN!

I Heart Delta

I heart priority baggage handling. Life is just so much less stressful when your bag comes out first.

Best flight EVER

So I know I am semi-late in discovering the wonder of free in-flight internet, but I have finally discovered it and it is making my flight to LA SOOOO enjoyable.

I can blog and chat and VIDEO chat and watch Hulu and edit pictures.

AND I have AC Power so I can plug in my computer and do it the entire flight!

OMG!

Instant videochatting with Ian in NYC!

And Timmo in Singapore!

Technology is SO amazing.

A big fluffy pillow and down blanket and SO MUCH LEGROOM.

Love love love Delta

So they way oversold my flight to LA and kept asking for volunteers to give up their seats and fly on a later flight in exchange for a $200 travel voucher.

A few people volunteered, but they needed more.

They asked and asked.

They offered a first class seat on the next flight.

Those who had purchased tickets but didn't have a seat were furious.

So much screaming. They were desperate for more volunteers.

Finally they said first class seat on the first flight tomorrow, hotel accomodation, AND a $600 travel voucher for ANYONE who has a flexible schedule and can give up their seat. They were basically begging.

I love Delta. But I think they definitely earned a couple dozen enemies just now in this here terminal.

It was a no-brainer. In. Done. Free trip to London. Free night stay at the beautiful Airport Ramada.

See you at 7am!

LAX -> JFK... PigFlu = Empty Flights!

So last week, I introduced you to the beautiful KristinaKlebe.

During her photoshoot, I confessed to her how I was terrified of flying to NY this week amidst the whole PigFlu ordeal and how I was planning to wear a mask regardless of what people might think or do.

Well she admitted that she felt the same way!

I was amazed. Kristina kills ZOMBIES for a living!

Anyway, she had been wanting to go to NYC for a few auditions and because her family lives there. So she bought tickets for my Delta flight so that we could travel together in style.

(By the way, her 24 audition apparently went awesome and though she hasn't been called back, they are shooting in NYC next season and I just have a feeling deep within my soul that she is destined to be a recurring character on 24 if not next season then at some point soon.)

So yay. Traveling with friends makes life so much more fun.

Goodbye awful urban sprawl!

Hello Rocky Mountains!

After enjoying one of the most yummy meals I've ever had on a flight (short ribs with wasabi/garlic mashed potatoes)...

We braved walking through the flu-infested peasantry and headed to the back of the plane to find it almost completely empty!

Yay PigFlu!

Yay full rows of seats all to ourselves!

Still, we took precautions. Better to be safe than swineflu-ed!

Klebe totally rocks a flu-mask the way Danny rocks geek glasses.

Fierce!

Flu mask also functions as a great eye-cover for sleeping! Amazing!

I LOVE DELTA 4 EVA!!!

-------------------------------------

OK. It is 3:50 am NYC time.

Still on West Coast time but I really must sleep now because we're going out 4 nights in a row starting tomorrow...well today.

Yoinks.

Delta SkyMiles AMEX with 50K Bonus Miles!!!

Get up to 50,000 Bonus miles when you sign up for a Delta Skymiles AMEX.

The problem is getting approved for the card...I think if you can afford the things you buy and actually pay your credit card bills off you should be ok...

delta-gold-amex

You can earn up to 50,000 bonus miles - more than enough for two round trip Award Tickets. You can earn 25,000 bonus miles with your first purchase. Then use the Pay with Miles feature on Delta.com to redeem for any Delta or Northwest flight by 8/24/09 and we’ll refill your account with the miles you used - up to 25,000 miles! Retardedly retarded no brainer!

Plus, pay no annual fee for the first year - a savings of $95.

I feel like Oprah. "YOU get a flight! And YOU get a flight! And YOU get a flight! And YOU get a flight!...........EVERY. BODY. GETS A FLIGHT!!!!"

Delta is the best!

Just don't go getting all Medallion status on me and beating me out on upgrade lists.

That will not a happy giant make.

Northwest vs. Delta

Whew.

Just landed back in LA after a layover in Memphis.

Long day of traveling.

I flew Northwest instead of Delta because that's all that was available last-minute for $250.

They've merged, but I'm not quite sure what was in it for Delta. They are a far superior airline.

It's like the Olympics merging with the Special Olympics with the intent to become some kind of superathlete.

Happily, my Delta loyalty pays off on Northwest flights. I was #1 on the upgrade list.

Unhappily, this is what Northwest calls First Class:

Whatever. I'm home.

Vegas tomorrow!

Surprise!!!!!

I'm in New York!!!

I trekked through the airports of the world to get here. Without crutches!

It was an amazing feat for me. I honestly didn't think I'd be able to do it. But it wasn't so bad.

By the time I got here my ankle was the size of a baseball though. Should have taken a picture.

Fun fun.

Drinking bloody marys all day made it bearable.

So my flight over was lame.

Well, half-lame.

From LAX to Salt Lake City (I got my ticket for $250 but had to connect) I got upgraded to first class. Delta, WOOOOO!!!!!!!

From Salt Lake to NYC I was #3 on the upgrade list but they only had one seat available and I guess those two other people had more miles than me. Bastards.

So whatever, I got exit row.

But then. The flight attendant noticed my boot and said I couldn't sit there!

I demonstrated that I could walk quite ably and did my one-legged flamingo dance but still he said it was against FAA regulations. What the f????

They stalled the plane takeoff to discuss with the pilot. I argued and argued. Other passengers said I seemed fine and to just let me sit there. (The plane was completely full, not a single extra seat.)

But in the end they said I would either have to squeeze into a normal seat (which, at 6'7" I don't fit into) or get off the plane.

So I swapped seats with a lady in the aisle and sat with my legs crossed and hanging into the aisle for the 4 hour flight from Salt Lake. SUPERLAME.

It's ok though. I don't blame Delta. They're still the best. Fly Delta! (I own stock.)

But I'm in NYC!!!!!!

This indian-themed party tonight is going to be amazing.

Delta Delta Delta

I love Delta.

Almost as much as I love Brown.

Actually not really. I couldn't love anything nearly as much as I love Brown.

But Delta is pretty awesome.

I called them today to re-book my flight back to LA, since I had to cancel my flight home last month when I broke my ankle.

The little old customer service lady I talked to was so nice. I told her my situation and she pitied my broken-ness and tallness and put a special note in my reservation for them to try not to fill the seats surrounding me. On top of that she put me on the priority list for an upgrade. On top of that she offered to have two dudes carry me from my wheelchair to my seat.

I gave her a cyber-phone-hug.

Couldn't waive the $100 rescheduling fee though. Oh well.

Morals of the story:

1. Delta is the best.
2. Always be super-nice to customer service people. They deal with so many impatient dickwads that if you are really nice and friendly there is almost no end to what they'll go out of their way to do for you. If you get a mean one, hang up and call back.

I'll be home January 8th!

(I'm going to be pretty useless so if you're willing to help drive me around to doctors and physical therapy and movies and food, please let me know. It will be great for your karma.)
