Barkus! - The Dog Parade

Sunday morning, Superbowl Sunday.

A great day to win the Superbowl!



We cruised by the Superdome on our way into the city to attend Barkus, the annual Mardi Gras Dog Parade.



It was a glorious day. And we just knew it was going to culminate in awesomeness. I knew it. I knew it from the second I booked my tickets to come down.



Yay! Never been this excited about a football game EVER.



We arrived in the French Quarter just in time for Barkus.



The parade was being led by the NEW cast of the upcoming Real World: Back to New Orleans.



Apparently they're all fat.



The dogs though, were ADORABLE.







Khalil also went all-out.




As did his parents, who are adorable.



And of course there was bead throwing/collecting.



I LOVE BEADS!



(And dogs in costumes.)






Then between the parade and the Superbowl. We stopped for food and drink.

First at Angeli.



And then at the Itch with our favorite bartender Phil.




Heeeere we gooooo.....

Day Parade / Night Parade

We woke up Saturday and went to WalMart so I could buy a new Partycam! (I forgot mine and don't like carrying around the fancycam when I'm drunkfaced.)

It was a BEAUTIFUL day and signs pointing to Sunday's impending victory were everywhere.




Then it was time for parades!

First was the Krewe of Pontchartrain. Organized in 1975 and named after Lake Pontchartrain, which forms the northernmost border of New Orleans.

The Krewe of Pontchartrain consists of more than 275 both men and women whose goal is to provide a quality Mardi Gras parade for the citizens of New Orleans and its guests.









Night parade was the Knights of Sparta.

Founded in 1952, Knights of Sparta takes its name from the city-state in southern Greece, renowned for its simple, stoic ways and exemplary disciplines. The all-men Krewe, the Knights of Sparta, first paraded in 1981 in Orleans Parish. The Knights are still known for their elaborate bal masque tableaus and for their traditional, yet innovative, street parade on the first Saturday on the Carnival parade season. This organization is formed by more than 350 male riders.
















Then we got burritos.




Then we hit the quarter.





Then Krazy Korner for 3-for-1.
