I mean...you knew I was going to win the Newsies lottery right? I did.

When they called my name (I was the 4th person drawn) I just shrugged, like I knew it was going to happen...BECAUSE I DID.

IT WAS DESTINY.



Also Megoon's tip on LIGHTLY FOLDING your card before you place it in the big box helped, in that it separates your cards from all the other cards which lie flat, so when they reach in and blindly grab a card, it pretty much triples your chances of being drawn.



We paid $30 for our tickets. And we sat in the 4th row.

AHHHHHHHHH I love this show so much. Everyone needs to go and watch it.

The dancing is incredible.

In Megoon's words:

"And then, when the show ends (SPOILER: it all works out) and you're like, 'awwwww, I could've watched those boys dance all night,' they come out and do a completely superfluous dance number before the curtain call! Newsies 4vr! "

Broadway Lotto-mania

I HAVE to see the show again.

I'm heading up to the theater in a bit to try to win the lottery to watch the show again.

(Lots of shows do a ticket lottery where people can enter 2 hours before showtime to win a couple of premium seats for $20-$30. Yes I realize I could just PAY for a ticket, but what is the fun in that?)

I've mapped out a plan.

The Newsies lottery drawing is at 5. So I'm going to enter that.

If I don't win, I'm going to go over to Ghost where they do their lottery at 6.



If I don't win that I'm going to sprint over to Rent, because they do their lottery at 6:30.



I WILL SEE A SHOW TONIGHT.

Loves my headshot clients! / NEWSIES Star!

Some of my clients have been making me feel very special lately.

I shot Topher at the end of last week. He had flown in from St. Louis and spent 48 hours in NYC, to get his session taken care of.

Quite a versatile actor this one is.




And then today I shot Michelle and her daughter Natalie, both professional dancers.

They flew in from North Carolina last night, shot with me this morning and are leaving tonight.



AND THEN (no and then!) this afternoon I had another shoot. This time for Andrew Keenan-Bolger, one of the stars of NEWSIES on Broadway, which Con and I saw just a couple weeks ago.



Newsies officially opened a week or so ago (we saw it when it was still in previews) and it has gotten rave reviews!

Not only is Andrew a talented actor/singer/gimpy-dancer (he plays Crutchie in the show), but he's a director as well.

I'm so happy for him and the rest of the cast, because this is a really exciting moment in their lives. For most of them, it's their Broadway debut. And the press and excitement surrounding this show has been insane. And you can just see the joy in their performances.

I'm pretty positive he'll be a household name soon enough. And he's just SO nice!

Usually for standing ovations, people gradually rise half-heartedly to join the crowd so they don't look like assholes. At the end of Newsies, people LEAPT to their feet. I would have even given them a standing ovation after the very first dance number. SO GOOD.



So I bought these tickets weeks ago the second I found out Newsies was coming to Broadway. But to be honest, I had never seen the movie all the way through until yesterday. I just really really loved the song, "Seize The Day" and I had a hunch it was going to be pretty well done based on the performance I saw on The View.

Well...our seats were really really close. We could literally see the spit fly out of the singers' mouths.



Constance has been a Newsies superfan since childhood, so she was really excited.



Jeremy Jordan, who plays Jack Kelly (the role Christian Bale plays in the movie) is incredible. Both as a singer and dancer. He is going to be a household name someday soon.



The dancing is incredible. The singing is incredible. The almost-all-boy cast is so athletic and so talented and HOT.

This production blew me away Book of Mormon-style.



The set design is pretty simple, yet really cool in the way it transforms and rotates to fit whatever number is going on.



The show officially opens March 29... after which the official reviews come out... after which it might become REALLY hard to get tickets. The show was supposed to only run until June 10th, but Disney already extended the run until August after the show made like $7 million dollars in its first few days of presale and the show went on to break all kinds of records at the Nederlander theater in its first 6 days on Broadway... records that were previously held by final performances of Rent, a show that ran for 12 years.

So...you should buy your tickets now. Don't be afraid and don't delay!

You will NOT be disappointed.
