Liz & Patch's Devil's Thumb Ranch Wedding | Colorado

I get to go to the best places for the best weddings ever. It's awesome. I know it.

Liz & Patch's Colorado Wedding was no exception.

Devil's Thumb Ranch is situated about 2 hours northwest of Denver in this remote valley surrounded by fields of wild horses and snow-capped mountain ranges.

The setting was truly stunning.

I've started getting better at taking detail shots. A lot of times brides and grooms don't care all that much about the details. They just want to look happy and pretty. But magazines and blogs LOVE the detail shots. They are all about them. And someone who shoots great details whose work gets published by magazines all the time might actually be a terrible wedding photographer because they are awkward around people and take awkward people shots.

Well...I already know I'm pretty good at shooting people...but now that I'm trying to break into the big leagues I'm trying to be great at detail shooting as well.

Croci and Sam are both former brides of mine. They were bridesmaids this time around and I had lots of fun messing around with them. They're always game to do whatever I tell them.

Weddings like this don't even feel like work. I'm just clowning around with my friends creating "art". And I love that.

The wedding was soooo pretty.

And the dance party was kind of ridiculous...

We had a parasol that KatieKerrick turned into a bonnet/lampshade head...

Which Geish then used to transform into one of those venom-spewing dinosaurs from Jurassic Park. (The one that killed Newman.)

Which Sarah then turned into a limbo-thingy...it was pretty frickin hilarious...

There are so many more pictures and so little time.

The night ended though with 2 DK brides and a DK groom sitting in a giant fireplace.

Love getting to hang with my harem of DKbrides!!!

Looking forward to the next one of these in August!

The Road to the Ritz! / Colorado!

Allan and I landed in Denver around noon yesterday and headed straight into town to have lunch with his fabulous wedding planner friend Francesca. Mr. Allan has been in the wedding biz for much longer than I have and scores pretty much all of his $10-$12k wedding/event gigs through planner friends who are designing and planning these million-dollar shindigs.

We ate at Kitchen, and it was SOY GOOD.

I had the curried chicken salad. (Yes yes I am eating LOTS of salads these days in an effort to lose 200 lbs and escape the diabetic fate of my dad and grandmommy.)

LOVES downtown Denver!

There were also salted caramel treats to go with our lunch. YUM

After lunch we happened upon a cute little store.

When in Denver...

(I did not buy any. (Hi Dad!) I can't handle weeds. I eat and then pass out and am generally useless.)

Then it was time for a 2 hour drive into the mountains for our Engage14 retreat! If you missed my post on Engage13 in Arizona...it is here.

SO excited to return for my second engage (it is Allan's 6th) this time knowing LOTS of fun friends.

We rented a monstrous Surburban...it was the only car they had.

The drive into the mountains was SOY beautiful.

We arrived into Beaver Creek...which is just stunning.

The Ritz-Carlton there stands in a league of it's own.

We got hooked up with a pretty epic three bedroom suite...methinks we will be hosting some epic afterparties!

AND I beat Mr Allan in rock-paper-scissors and got the master bedroom. YESSSSSS

LOVES Colorado!!!! This is going to be insane.

Colorado!

I took a couple of days off from wedding mania and flew into Denver on Tuesday to visit Tom up in the rando mountains of Colorado where he's starring in a show, "Kiss of the Spider Woman".

Lake Dillon sits about an hour and a half west of Denver and drive there is mountainy and very pretty.

Gastoooooonnnnn!!!!!!

After a quick bite and a workout, we headed over to the theater where his show is playing.

It is always great to see my actor friends performing and doing what they do best.

I am very lucky to get to do what I love, and I owe a lot of it to all the actors of the world.

Beware the SPIIIIIIDER WOMAN!!!!

After the show each night we would drive into the mountains to the town of Black Hawk. It is this hidden little mini-Vegas with a handful of great casino resort/hotels. EPIIIIIC.

No pics allowed obvi. But I kicked ass in poker, kept getting monster hands, and at one point was up almost $550. Best I've ever done.

LOVE when a trip pays for itself!

OK back to NYC now for more weddings!!!
