More Rome

So we spent several more fun and relaxing days in Rome.

And I discovered that Engrish is not only an Asian thing:

Greedy mussels and calamarys! Delicious.

Also delicious?

Lasagna.

Amatriciana.

Vongole.

Prosciutto.

Eggplant Parmesan Pizza.

More vongole.

Bolognese.

And of course. Meatballs.

.................

We had several epic meals in Trastevere, saw the Sex and the City movie (awesome), and went church-hopping.

I'm not really religious, but I do fate and karma and magic and unicorns...so I lit a candle and said a little prayer.

What I prayed for... I shouldn't say...but I'm sure you can figure it out.

We passed by the Trevi fountain.

Did some general frollicking.

And ended our evenings on some bridge.

With wine.

And occassionally doing wind sprints.

I love Italy!

Goodbye. I will miss you.

Pizzas e pastas!

Friday | May 30, 2008 | 2pm

After an early morning journey to Nice and a quickie flight to Rome and a little train ride into the city we arrived in Trastevere.

Immediately we rushed to fresh delicious pizza.

The weather was beautiful.

The sky - clear and blue.

We did an obligatory walking tour of the beautiful city.

Pantheon...

Piazza Venezia...

Colloseo...

The Forum...

Rando cool column thing...

Claudia is an honorary Roman and thus knows all the good restaurants and gelaterias in the city.

Gelato is deeeelicious.

..................

Night fell.

We broke out some wines.

And then went to the greatest tasting pasta I have ever tasted IN MY ENTIRE LIFE.

Oh also a staple of Roman food is Suppli - fried risotto balls.

SOOOOO EFFING GOOD.

Heidi had the Spaghetti Vongole.

(CLAMS!)

And I had some kind of pasta I've never ever heard of before (Sponzarelli or something) in Puttanesca.

Seriously...

SOOOOO...

EFFING.....

GOOD.

Last supper and final farewell

Thursday | May 29, 2008 | 9 p.m.

We bought a rotisserie chicken and cheeses and breads and wines for a last dinner picnic thing at the house.

We watched the "sun" "set"...

Pretty. With or without the sun.

And then. We sleeped.

.......................

Friday | May 30, 2008 | 7 a.m.

We woke early in the morning, and said our goodbyes.

And pressed lockdown for the very last time.

Goodbye house.

Goodbye France.

We headed to Nice airport for our flight to Rome.
