Girl Talk is the stage name of musician Gregg Gillis. He specializes in mashup style remixes, in which he uses often a dozen or more unauthorized samples from popular songs to create a new song. His music is a continuous mix packed with wildly disparate Top 40 genres and eras. Current hip hop hits, soft rock radio standards, party classics, grunge masterpieces, R&B singles, glossy club-shakers, and rock anthems are all layered and pieced meticulously together into one non-stop celebration of pop and excess.
Katie, Goon, and their high school friends were all present.
And we happened upon long-lost friend Anna!
The concert itself was superb. He played what I think were a bunch of brand new unreleased mixes featuring some of today's biggest pop hits.
The crowd was a lot like Spring Weekend at Brown.
There was free T.P...
Beach balls...
And crowd-surfing.
And overlooking the New York skyline, it was definitely a sight.
Fans were allowed onstage where they danced around all sweaty-like.
And it was just a sea of deranged people...which eventually resulted in us losing track of almost everyone.
As the sun began to set, it started pouring.
And people left the park in droves.
Only to come across thousands of onlookers...
And people waiting desperately to get in. (We had arrived about four hours early to ensure admission...)
Poor wastedface TL was among those people.
