Mardi Gras Pre-Parades and Chicken on a Stick!

After a couple days of rain, the sun emerged.

And Adam's new shirt arrived in the mail, which led to happyface Adam (MUCH preferred to scaryface Adam).

We headed to our favorite neighborhood sammich stop. Milk Bar.

They make an epic Chicken Parm.

Then we spent the afternoon napping or watching Arrested Development or something. And it was time for parades. See the parade schedule below? There are a LOT of them.

Tonight's parade was one of the tamer parades put on by the Krewe of Oshun.

Founded in 1996, the Krewe of Oshun is named for the Yoruba goddess of love and intimacy. The organization provides its members and families with a year-in, year-out venue for wholesome family entertainment and community service, culminating in a grand ball and a beautiful street parade.

No nudity. Lots of kiddies and wholesome fun.

Floats come by and you hoot and holler and try to catch BEADS!

It's SO MUCH FUN!

Some of the costumes are a little scary though and look kind of Klan-ish.

We loves a parade!

Semmes and Katie were running late to Adam's. (Adam lives on the parade route.) So they picked us up and we sped downtown to intercept the parade and experience it from the beginning.

Yay parades!

Katie caught a Saints Stick.

And then we went for delicious Asian-fusion at Mike's East-West where we had the Shrimp & Spinach Dumplings...

Scallops and eggplant...

This fried Ahi roll thing that was PHENOMENAL...

And garlic crusted filet-mignon.

It was a delicious meal. Delicious delicious delicious.

But I am a simple person. And none of this epic food compared to my ultimate discovery.

CHICKEN ON A STICK!!!!!

It's a giant foot-and-a-half long chicken tender fried to perfection.

It was SO tasty.

I LOVE BEADS!
