R + D / Gjelina

I went to the dentist today. Had two cavities filled. Yuck.

I don't ever remember getting fillings being so painful. Maybe I'm getting older. Either way. It was pain pain pain and I hated it. The doctor didn't drop the drill on my face this time though, so yay for that. But I have been terrified of the dentist and haven't been since July 2009 because of that drill-to-the-face incident. Hates the dentist!

I didn't eat all day. My lip was numb until 3 o clock or so.

Amanduh and I rode bikes around Santa Monica. I figured this earned us a yummy snacky. We went to R + D on Montana which is now one of my new favorites.

Then for dinner Bobby got us a reservation at Gjelina.

For the past few months, all I've heard about is this new restaurant Gjelina and how amazing amazing amazing it is. And how impossible it is to get a reservation there unless you're a celeb. Or just really lucky.

The place has had awesome reviews across the board. The menu is constantly changing and innovating.

As an up-and-coming music video director Bobbo has some friends in high places and scored us a 9:30 reservation. Better late than never.

We sat around and drank beers eagerly awaiting 9:30.

Finally. We get there. And of course the second we walk in the door, it turns out that the hostess happens to be my lovely friend Natalie!

Now we can get reservation there whenever. Just like a celebrity. Yay!

So our meal, we decided to go all-out and share.

We started with Charred Brussel Sprouts with Bacon, Dates and Vinegar... (brussel sprouts are the french fry of LA and these were incredible)

Then we had the Lamb Sausage, Confit Tomato, Rapini and Pecorino & Asiago Pizza...

Then the Wood Roasted Cauliflower with Garlic and Chili and Vinegar

Then the P.E.I. Mussels with Chorizo, Confit Tomato, White Wine and Grilled Bread.

And topped it all off with the Pork Meatballs Braised in Tomato & Red Wine w/ Parmesan.

MMMmmmMMmMM YUMMMY!!!!

Thank you Bobby for scoring us the rezzie!

Power Hour and the Abbot Kinney Festival

The shotglasses came out.

Katie and Lady Di organized a Power Hour for sober people.

Sumner's glass was a little racy.

Also Sumner and Diana were coincidentally wearing color-coordinated outfits.

As were we.

The Power Hour started.

For those not in the know:

Power Hour = 60 shots of beer in 60 minutes.

Beer has effect on the small girls quickly.

And the Bratz dolls came out to play.

By the end of 60-ish minutes (we actually kept it going to Century Club) there were significantly more people and significantly more trashed-ness.

In her drunken state, Smersh felt the need for a wardrobe change.

Finally it was off to the festival.

Tens of thousands of people...

...and a girldude.

Bumped into Laryssa (of Adam & Laryssa).

And also saw a parade of colorful fairypilgrims.

Ended up at The Brig where they had a huge outdoor tent set up with beer and meat slices.

I don't know why but there was headbutting.

Oh and I discovered that from one very special angle, Sumner has a Michael Jackson nose.

I heart daydrinking.

Bobby's new digs.

With the purchase of a new Venice pad, Bobby has officially moved to the west siiiiide.

It's not on the beach...but you could definitely throw a cat or puppy or something from the roof deck over the neighboring building and it would land safely on warm happy sand. Maybe.

I'm not totally sure pictures can convey they total sweetness of it.

The ceiling must be at least 30 feet or so.

Did I mention the third floor roof deck?

Also there is a sweet garage door/patio/bamboo forest thing in the main room which is pretty unbelievable.

We spent the afternoon unpacking.

This is place is going to be so much fun!!!!!

WEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!

I get a new car. Bobbo gets a new life.

Thunder stealer.

Blackout Thursday!

As of late, Blackout Thursday has had a much better turnout.

Remember the days when it was just me and Chris and Doug. And then maybe Megoon would roll by and eat a buffalo wing?

The move to 7pm was a good choice.

And Schmonster has me programmed on her GPS!
