Cancun Night 1

So we arrived late in Cancun on Night 1. The house Noops had rented was situated in a sparsely populated area called Isla Blanca. The only way in was this incredibly bumpy dirt road miles and miles from "civilization" - the crazy resort mayhem that is downtown Cancun - and the first drive out there was terrifying, Zameer and I seriously fearing for our lives as we encountered security checkpoints with men armed with AK-47s, several scary stray dogs, random drifters, and deserted-looking buildings that looked like they could be home to scary drug cartels.

But alas, we made it.

And I was a total surprise to Noops. Zameer very carefully smuggled me in and then I basically jumped out of the bushes and surprised her, in my taco costume.

Best birthday present ever! (The present was that I was there to document the whole weekend photographically in my usual fashion.)

We got together with some other early arrivals and commenced drinking.

We played Kings.

It was all very fun. Good way to bond all of Noops besties from the different phases of her life.

But we needed to conserve energy for the days to come, so we called it an early night.

Much more to come!
