Brown Event @ Juliet

The Brown Club of NYC threw a Fall Bash at Juliet Supper Club in Chelsea on Thursday night.

Kate and I had seen the invite long ago and decided to jump on it right away. 3-hour open bar + open food = I'm in.

There were tons of delicious passed hors d'oeuvres.

We were joined by our long lost Chloefriend who has just moved back to NYC after finishing business school....

We ate several meatballs in sauce...

And then we also found my fellow-giant Jessiefriend.

Chloe got hit on by a hottie halfie...that we later found out was Class of 2011.

OMG we are entering cougardom.

'Mingo

My Halloween costume

SO excited!

Fancyfoods @ Daniel

I have a really warped sense of how much I can spend on things now that I make money in either 850 (headshot) or 3600 (wedding) dollar increments. People flake on me or call me for last minute photoshoots all the time, so I can always rationalize rando expenditures. It's bad... Well not really. It's awesome.

So I went to Daniel for dinner the other night.

Both Conlix and MAO got engaged there (the staff probably collectively rolls their eyes anytime they see someone get down on one knee)...so I wanted to see what all the fuss is about.

It was delicious for sure.

Not quite $900 delicious....which is how much two 12-course tasting menus with wine pairings cost...but pretty effing delicious.

I'm not very good at fancyfood. I enjoy it sure. But I would also love to just eat a meatball sandwich. And if there was some kind of hundred-dollar meatball...that would pretty much be my dream meal. So you can shower me with Slow-Baked Turbot and Caramelized Scallops and Roasted Guinea Hens.... And I will enjoy them... But when you bring me the check I can't help but think I would have a lot more fun throwing a suitcase full of money off the Empire State Building.

Normally I would have taken lots of dkfoodshots, but it was a really nice place and I didn't want to be that guy. So I only took a pic of my amoooz boooosh...

And a quickie shot of the dining room.

The presentation of everything was INSANE. And the attentiveness of the waitstaff was borderline annoying as you couldn't have more than 5 minutes of conversation before a waiter interrupted to present your next wine or course or water etc.

After our meal though we got a tour of the kitchen thanks to my wonderful friend Maisie who happens to be Daniel Boulud's assistant. It made the whole adventure worth it. Thank you Maisie!

This blog post is obnoxious, isn't it?

Alrighty. I'm off to the airport to go house-hunting in LA. Bye!

KatieFay's Wedding

So 6 weeks ago I shot Katie's little sister Molly's wedding.

And two weeks ago I shot a wedding at Castle Hill in Newport.

Well on Friday and Saturday I returned to Newport to shoot Katie's wedding.

Katie went to Deerfield with me, and then to Brown briefly. Add to that the fact that I had met many of their close family and friends at Molly's wedding and you get a really fun and easy wedding to shoot.

It was like a mini-Deerfield reunion.

Katie made a gorgeous bride.

And the bride and groom did not stop smiling at each other all night.

The venue looked beautiful.

The foods were amazing. Truffle Mac and Cheese and Breaded Lambchops were my favorite.

And it was just a beautiful wedding.

Mr. Fay, who is like my favorite person in the world, gave one of the best wedding speeches ever.

And Katie was dancefloor MVP once again. (She dominated at Molly's wedding which I'm now realizing I never posted pictures from.)

One semi-bridesmaid gave a speech where she thanked Katie for teaching her, "that there is no shame in being the sweatiest person on the dancefloor."

I thought that was pretty amazing. Katie even changed into a party dress so she could sweat it up on the dancefloor. Her energy and happiness was contagious. It was one of the most energetic and fun wedding dancefloors I've ever seen. And I've see A LOT.

Even the little girls got into it and were headbanging all over the place.

Loves a Deerfield wedding!

Loves me some Meachin.

Congratulations Katie!
