South Carolina!

So as I mentioned I'm down in South Carolina these next few days doing a shoot for my friend Peter's company Smathers & Branson.

I'm shooting Peter's wedding in September, so it was fun to get to do this project prior so that I could come hang out with him and his gorgeous halfie fiancee Michelle.



Peter founded Smathers & Branson back in 2004 with his bff Austin. And as you may notice from their website, they're in dire need of a makeover.

So we came down to Spring Island, a private island where his family has a home, complete with golf, fishing, boating, and even hunting. Flew in some models. And are having a fun little shoot.

This is my first official "fashion" shoot so it's kind of scary and fun at the same time.

I often forget this when I'm shooting my "regular" actor clients...but professional models make everything SO much easier!



Although sometimes they fire guns near you and that is scary.

I'm wiped out from a long day of shooting!

Away we go.

This next month is going to be pretty nutty.

Heading to South Carolina today to do a shoot for Smathers & Branson, my friend Peter's "clothing" line (they mainly do belts for now)...

Back to NYC on Wednesday for the night.

Going to LA on Thursday for some shoots, then to Hawaii for Toni (Kristy's sister)'s wedding.

Then back to NYC for 3 or 4 days.

Then to Indonesia by way of Germany and Singapore for Teresa's brother Ted's wedding.

I'm exhausted just thinking about it all.



Or maybe I'm just tired because I left for the airport at 6am after we had a house party last night.

Frogsuits with Anne!

A few months ago Anne got engaged...



So we went to Saks to try on fancy frogsuits.




Lots and lots of pretty ones...



Although, let's be serious. Anne looks good in anything.



At the end of the day though, we decided to be traditional and go with a kimono and big bugeyes.



Yay! After that we had delicious veal meatball sliders.



And some tartares...



And champagne!



I'm so happy that Annie finally gets to be the princess she's always wanted to be.

New Poster! / Career Update

I blog a lot about my random adventures and nights out, so a lot of people don't realize that I actually do WORK sometimes.

And the past several months have been truly amazing.

In addition to having about 16 weddings lined up until Felix and Connie's next Memorial Day, my headshot business has really exploded.

I just redesigned my bulletin boards at Actor's Connection and TVI Actor's Studios and I have to say, my new poster is pretty sick.



These bulletin boards sit in a big "Photographers Gallery" as advertising for all the actors that visit these studios for classes, auditions, etc. and they bring in a ton of business.

Part of the reason I moved to NYC was that I felt like things were kind of stagnant in LA and that being in NYC always really forced me to push myself to the next level.

I feel like in LA it's easy to get lazy and just lounge around, happy with the status quo.

It's sunny. It's warm. It's not that expensive to live. And you can get stuck.

Everyone in NYC always seems to be doing SOMETHING to push themselves to get where they want to go, and I just love that energy and drive.

Since I moved here almost two years ago now, I've really focused on marketing myself a lot better. I've gotten in with several agents and managers who send me a ton of clients. And I just think I've hit my stride.

I used to get upset when a client would flake on me. Now I couldn't care less.

I used to get really nervous before client consultations because if I didn't land the gig, I'd feel like a failure and worry about paying for rent, for gas, for meatballs etc. But now the only thing I get nervous about is overbooking too many gigs or clients in a single day or week.

It's amazing to look back 5 1/2 years to the week I got fired from my first and only "real job" and to the very blog post where I decided to become a professional photographer. I really didn't think I would be where I am today doing what I'm doing. I mean...I almost took a job as an assistant to someone's BUTLER for gods sakes. Life could be VERY different right now.

So yes. I am feeling really content and accomplished today.

I could do exactly what I'm doing for rest of my life and it would be a great life.

But I'm confident I'll continue to grow. And fashion photography will probably be the next step. I've been saying that for a while. But I really think it's time. And who knows what the next five years will bring. But I'm excited to find out.

How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying

So last week I had I did headshots for Charlie, who you may or may not remember his appearance in Broadway Bares last summer.




Charlie is currently starring alongside Daniel Radcliffe (AKA Harry Potter duh) in How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying so he was able to hook me up with tickets for tonight.



And not just any tickets...



Grrrrrrreeaaatttt tickets. Orchestra E. Normally $320 a seat. For a fraction of the price.



The show also starred John Larroquette.



But the crowd went NUTSO for Daniel. At points they had to wait for applause to die down after certain numbers before they could continue on.



And though the show started a little iffy with some not-so-amazing songs, in the end it had won everyone over. I loved it.

It's like Mad Men. But funny. And with singing and dancing.

None of the songs are all that memorable, but the dancing and acting and performing is top notch.

The dancing especially.




I have new respect for Daniel Radcliffe, who not only spoke with an impeccable American accent throughout the whole show, but was able to sing and dance amazingly as well.

I just might give the Harry Potter films another shot. (Still can't see the appeal.)



After the show, fans waited by the stage door for autographs.



There were hundreds and hundreds of people.



All waiting to catch a glimpse of Daniel before he jumped in his car and sped away with his security team.




He emerged and the crowd went nuts.





Charlie put us on the guest list at the stage door so we were able to go beat the throngs of crazy Harry fans...




...and got to go backstage to check out the set.





Yay!



Interesting insider fact: You may have heard that Daniel is taking a break from the show this summer to promote the last Harry Potter film. But in order to do that, Warner Brothers had to buy out EVERY SINGLE SEAT in the theater for each day they would be taking him away from the production since it wasn't in his play contract that he'd be taking any breaks from the show. (He's under contract through January I believe). That's alotta munny.

Anyway. Yes. Amazingly entertaining show. The finale itself is worth the ticket fee. Definitely should check it out if you get a chance.

Sad that Euguela's wedding is the weekend of Broadway Bares this year so I'll miss it!
