I left NYC ass-early on Wednesday morning. Never have I ever been so thrilled to be leaving the city for warmer climates. We took off just as the sun was rising and I haven't looked back.
Upon landing I went over to Matt & Kelli's to meet their new little baby. She was sleeping so I didn't get to take any pictures. And Matt & Kelli were busy in some health insurance customer service battle which left me some time to snoop through some old photo albums and OMG am I glad I did!!!
Looking through I found some vintage pictures of Matt... in women's clothing!!!!
W.T.F??!??!?!?!?!??!
Seriously. I was like "MATT WTF IS THIS?!?!?!?"
Turns out in 2004 when they did the poster art for the movie White Chicks, the Wayans brothers were too lazy to dress up in drag themselves for the photoshoot, so their heads were just photoshopped onto some supermodel bodies.
Amaaaazing.
In the evening I met up with David Alan and Rebecca and we hit up SoHo House for a special (terrible) movie screening.
The SoHo House WeHo screening room is EPIC. (I did not take this picture. It's directly from their website.)
The movie starred Vanessa from Gossip Girl. She is the most annoying character on that show. And she was annoying in this.
Girlfriend is cute but CANNOT act.
It feels really awful walking out of a movie screening when the film's
director was sitting directly behind us. But it had to be done.
Since SoHo House doesn't allow pictures, EXCEPT in the Photobooth, we did lots of Photobooth.
Oooh and we had a celeb sighting. Getting out of the photobooth as we were getting into it was Anna Faris!
Love her!!!!

Watch What Happens Live!!!
Megoon brought me to a taping of Watch What Happens Live on Tuesday night.
When you enter you immediately are greeted in the tiny reception area/bar. And they immediately start getting you DRUNK.
Then you go into the studio, which is tiny.
And they keep getting you DRUNK.
Then the guests come on...and you scream and scream and cheer (DRUNK).
Tonight's guests were Henry Winkler and Andrew Rannells (star of Book of Mormon and The New Normal and Girls)...they were awesome and hilarious.
This is how small the audience is.
Which is why all the drinking and screaming.
It was such fun!
And the guest bartender was Stacey somethingrather...the girl who played Tara Collette's stripper sister on Friday Night Lights!!!
We LOVES Bravo!!!!!!!!

DC / Pittsburgh
A week ago I drove down to DC to shoot an event for my friend Thor, founder of the Oslo Freedom Forum.
His mom was being honored by National Geographic at the Travelers of the Year Awards. (The awards aren't really for travelling but for doing great things for people abroad. Thor's mom and stepdad own the Pacuare Nature Preserve in Costa Rica dedicated to the preservation of the critically-endangered Giant Leatherback Turtle.)
Thor threw them a luncheon at the Jefferson Hotel before the award ceremony.
We had a private dining room at Plume, one of the yummiest restaurants I've ever been to in DC.
Loves some champagnes before noon!
This tomato soup was to die for.
And we got cute little turtle figurines with our place settings!
I had this amazing mushroom chicken which didn't photograph that well. But my chocolate souffle thing sure did...HEAVEN.
Then in the evening we got to go to National Geographic's auditorium for the awards presentation. It was lovely. And there was a big reception afterwards with delicious foods and drinks. Yum yum yummyfun.
Thor's mom is literally one of the kindest people on the planet.
It's so awful to think someone actually once SHOT HER in the back.
----------------------
While in DC I was crashing with Michelle and PeterSmathers.
Upon mentioning that I would be attending Watch What Happens Live this week, we thought, ooooh we should give Andy Cohen some Smathers & Branson swag (since he already has a beloved flask from them with his likeness on it.)
So we went through the storeroom and picked out items for Andy and his new puppy.
FYI Smathers & Branson now makes an awesome line of dog collars.
Poor Petey just had wrist surgery. He's feeling great though!
Good thing he doesn't have to stitch these belts himself!
Did I mention before that S&B also makes a bunch of hats now too? There's really no end to what they can expand their line to...
After picking out goodies for Andy we had some incredible Lebanese foods.
The food was SO good...we were moaning in ecstasy...

Luke here was just signed by Sony Records and made it to the top 20 of American Idol a few years back... keep an eye on this one!
As soon as I finished shooting I booked it back to NYC. It was an exhausting 6 1/2 hour drive. UGHHHHH... was so happy to be home in relatively warm 26 degree weather (vs. Pittsburgh's 10 degree weather)...

And then (NO "AND THEN"!!!) I hopped in my car and drove 4 hours to Pittsburgh where I had a shoot the next day in 10 degree weather for a bunch of actor students.
These kids were all so lovely. Some of them have very bright futures.

Back To Work B*tch / The Week Ahead
So after two and a half weeks of lying in bed recovering from the awful tonsillectomy (it really wasn't THAT awful...I expected so much worse), I finally went back to work on Saturday.
Because I wasn't shooting for a while, I scheduled all of my clients for back-to-back shoots over the weekend and throughout this week.
People constantly ask me if I still do headshots since weddings consume so much of my life these days. Yes, headshots still provide the bulk of my income. They're just not that interesting since I have my routine down and I tend to use a bunch of the same locations these days, so I don't post that much about it.
This weekend and week have been a doozy though.
Saturday I eased myself back into it with two clients.
Andrew...a nice young actor guy...
And Lauren...a fierce young actress.
Sunday I met up with Priya and Michael at 9am for their engagement shoot...
Then at 11am I met up with returning client (this is the 6th time she's shot with me) Carolyn...
Carolyn is a badass estate lawyer in her 40s who just LOVES getting her DKHeadshots done every other month or so. No complaints here!
She's like a young Christine Baranski and she knows how to work that cammy!
After Carolyn I had a 1 o'clock appointment with Rish, who owns a "small" hedge fund.
Lately I've been doing a bunch of Indian Finance Guys who come to me for pictures so that they can find wives on Indian dating sites. Seriously!
I did my first one, Naveen, a few years ago. Naveen came to me for photos... the photos got him TONS of dates on Match.com and its Indian equivalent... he is now engaged to be married... and he credits his DKHeadshots for all of it.
So all the other Indian Finance Guys Looking For Wives worship the newly engaged Naveen and ask him what they need to do to find their own beautiful Indian wives and he tells them, "Go Get Some DK HEADSHOTS." So they show up at my door.
Yayyyyyy...
At 3pm (this is still Sunday) I did photos for the beautiful Morgan.
Afterwards I drove out to Jersey to watch the Superbowl with Conlix.
Monday we had a snowstorm. Thank god. I took the day off and rescheduled my shoots.
Today (Tuesday) I did Giuseppe from Italy...
Tural from Azerbaijan...
And Sean from Jersey...
Tomorrow I'm shooting an ESPN anchor and then some actress lady.
Thursday I drive down to DC to shoot a gala of some sort.
Friday I have a day off.
Saturday I drive to Pittsburgh to shoot 6-10 actors at some acting school.
Sunday I'll be back here in the city.
Monday I have four headshot shoots. And Sean (my last client from today) may be taking me to a Fashion Week Fashion Show (yay!)
Tuesday I'm going to Watch What Happens Live with Megoon.
And then Wednesday I'm off to LA.
Phew! It's nice be back!

Preggo Amanda
I visited Amanda the other day. Have not seen her in a while. She is 6 weeks from having her little baby!
Girlfriend BARELY looks pregnant.
From the front she basically looks like I do after a big lunch. (But whiter.)
I'm thinking I might take more maternity photos and launch a maternity site. Why not create a whole other stream of income right?
Michael recently got a big promotion (he's now the Prezzy of a little shoe company that rhymes with "Shmole Shmaan", no big deal) and he and Amandy recently moved into an awesome new apartment in Chelsea with this siiiiick private patiooooo.
The best part of the patio is that you step right out onto it rather than having to go upstairs to the roof (like her old place, and my place).
Excited for some fabulous summer bbqs and dinner parties!
Cannot wait to meet the little one!
