Off to LA again / Atlantic Antic / Celeb sightings

I often forget where I am.

Just now I was walking through JFK and I could have sworn I was at LAX heading home to New York.

Maybe I travel too much.

Maybe I'm sleepy.

Anyway I'm on my way back to LA for a big corporate gig tomorrow (I'm taking pics of 22 lawyers for their new website).

I'm so relieved to have a wonderful new apartment. Last week when I was in LA I was super-stressed about where I was going to end up living. Funny how things can change so quickly.

Last week, right before I flew back to NY we had a group outing to watch The Town (great movie).

When we arrived at the theater, Smileyjohn saw his clothing twin. It was SO funny. We HAD to take a picture...

THEN, Smileyjohn's clothing twin met up with his ladyfriend, who just happened to be Annie's clothing twin. It was unreal!

Maybe you had to be there. Whatever. It was awesome.

So I came back to NY. Found an apartment, lost an apartment, and within 24 hours found a new apartment, still on the Lower East Side.

I love my neighborhood.

I walked up the street the other day to find a throng of people gawking at something.

I shoved my way through the crowd to find myself face-to-face with Rihanna, filming her new video, I assume for "Only Girl in the World". She was just walking around with a pair of drumsticks drumming on walls and doorframes and stuff, soaking up the attention and screaming to everyone, "You're all gonna be in my video!!!!"

This was very exciting to me, since I had just seen her in concert a few months ago.

I was so close to her I could have punched her. But I waited until I was a bit farther away to take pictures.

Anyway, I was on my way to some street festival called Atlantic Antic in Brooklyn, meeting up with my buddies Christian and Sol who I haven't seen since Norway.

There was food and people and drinking everywhere.

And cake!

And fake princesses!

One highlight was a $5 slider from Morton's steakhouse...

$5 also buys you three giant meatballs from a rando Italian stand.

I bumped into my Brown buddy Todd who happened to be performing with his band "Arms".

And then we found delicious pineapple drinks!

Brooklyn, you're neat, but I'm so glad I live in Manhattan!

And now I'm at the aeropuerto about to take off for LA.

I'm actually sitting across from Robin Thicke, can you see his reflection in my sunglasses? Probably not. I'd take a picture but I'm trying to be cool and discreet even though we all know I'm anything but.

Anyway, see y'all on the flip side!

My new apartment.

Is SO amazing.

I am currently doing laundry, in the comfort of my own home.

My bathroom, is like a hotel bathroom.

I am so excited to shower. And POOP!

Thank you ugly gay Luke for flaking out on me!

This next year of living is going to be the best ever.

NEW YORK CITY I HAVE ARRIVED!

Wait til you see the roofdeck.

I have a new apartment!

With private roof deck!

And I only have Noopur to thank.

Noopur and DannyHong (who gave me plenty of street cred).

It's funny how things worked about because last night, right after I got the email from f*ckface (see below), and before I had even told anyone about my f*cked up situation, Noopur had texted me asking me if her friend Jon (now my new roommate) had ever gotten back to me because she had contacted him a few weeks ago about my needing an apt. He actually HADN'T gotten back to me because her FB message to him somehow slipped through the cracks, but upon her reminding him last night he instantly emailed me.

We set up a meeting for this evening. I fell in love with the apartment (which is just a few blocks from where I am now). (Also I was kind of desperate and rebounding, but that's beside the point.) And happily Jon and his roommate Kayvon liked me back. And within two hours I had given them a check and now have keys to my new place.

YAY

It's been so long since we've had private roofdeck fun!

KILL KILL KILL KILL KILL

So I've been searching for an apartment for the last month.

I found one that I LOVE LOVE LOVED. The roommates were awesome, the place was insane. I never heard back from them.

I found another that I also loved, not as much as the first, but it was still awesome. The guy was a nice gay. I pestered him to make a decision, I blew off three other apartments/roommates that had accepted me as their roommate, and finally last Saturday night he picked me!

I didn't get back from LA until late Tuesday so I wasn't able to get him my deposit check until yesterday. He handed me the keys, and then I went home to start packing.

AND THEN

He sent me this email:

Hey Dennis,

I am sorry to do this, I just feel we're not moving on the same plane. The room is really a furnished rental, I made sure to say this a few times, but mattresses bed frames dress is all part of the agreement. I've been renting as furnished for a few years and will continue to after this next agreement.

I'm sorry I've been tentative about this agreement for a while, but I really didn't feel we were on the same page tonight when you came by, I should have stuck by and seen more people so that I would have felt strong in this choice, but I knew you wanted a quick answer, and I just wasn't ready to give it, and now i feel I've moved to fast.

This has nothing to do with you, i think your a great guy. I just no longer see this as a good fit and I am deeply sorry. I realize we've exchanged keys, and money, but I can not deposit the check as I do feel I need to move in a different direction.

Again I am sorry.

LUKE

I was irate. I wanted to cry. I seriously started thinking about ways to poison little doggies (he has one) and burn down apartments (he also has one).

I'm leaving for LA (again) on Tuesday so I have 5 days to find a f*cking apartment.

Now that I have my head wrapped around the situation this morning, I suppose it isn't all that bad. I mean. Do I really want to live with the d-bag who would send such an email? And things happen for a reason maybe it is a sign I shouldn't have been moving downtown (Financial District). And worst case scenario is I don't find an apt and get a storage unit and take my time finding an amazing apt.

THANK GOD I do not have a job that takes up my 9-5 so I can devote time to this ridiculous apartment hunt. I don't know how you normal people do it.

Oh. P.S. This is what the mo-fo looks like:

If you happen to see him on the street somewhere please don't hesitate to stab a dagger through his stupid screaming ass-face.

Eeeeek! I'm hosting a seminar!

Yes yes, a headshot seminar!

Why am I telling you?

I don't want anyone I know to be there.

DO NOT COME.

But wish me luck!

Back in NYC

Farshid's wedding was lovely. Though we did not get to see the groomboy as much as we would have liked.

Landed back in NYC today.

Off to LA again one week from today for a corporate gig.

In between now and then I will hopefully find a new apartment.

Tons of work to do. Hopefully will have time to post pickys!

In Los Angeles!

Landed late last night and Christian and Bobby picked me up from LAX, dragging me straight out to the bar in Venice where we met up with Sumner and a newly bearded Jesse!

We make Christian look small!

Love being back in LA.

Wedding this weekend!

Carlos & Dany's Wedding Video

So I don't remember if I ever posted this, but several months ago, Khalil sent me the link to this beautiful wedding video he had found.

The guy who made it, Alexi, is a graphic designer guy based in Toronto who is a tech geek and crazy about cameras and had made this video for his friends after attending their wedding.

I was so moved and impressed by the video that I contacted Alexi, who actually had only just started doing videography as a hobby.

We became cyberbuddies and I put him in touch with Katie and we ended up flying him down to shoot her and Semmes' wedding last weekend.

We've been going back and forth on editing ideas, and I've seen some of the footage...and their wedding video is his best work EVER. It is going to be F*CKING INCREDIBLE.

Seriously...I think it may go viral on YouTube and turn Katie and Semmes into internet celebrities. I can't wait until the teaser is finished so I can show it to you. And the world. And then we go on Oprah.

Stay tuned.

Until then. Watch Carlos and Dany's video!

Katie and Semmes' Wedding: This is gonna take a while

Gonna take a while and multiple blog entries.

I mean, it was AN EVENT.

Katie already has the most infectious smile and laugh and spirit of anyone I know. Put her in a room with her dearest family and friends, get her MARRIED, and well, it was basically a 12 hour smilefest.

The band was amazing. Her photographer was amazing. Like AMAZING. The most creative guy I have ever seen.

Here's a teaser photo he posted on his blog.

And everyone was all smiles all day long.

Here are the first few photos I've worked on. There are so many photos, I really have no idea how this is going to work. Stay tuned!

Such a beautiful wedding.

Such a happy weekend.

Congrats Katie and Semmesey! Have fun in France!

The Club Can't Handle Me

This has been the song of the weekend. We have been dancing our faces off to it. It is amazing.

"Club Can't Handle Me" - Flo Rida feat. David Guetta

Back to NYC tomorrow.

Lots of pics coming soon!
