Sacramento!

After the wedding brunch on Saturday, I rented a car and drove up to Sacramento to check in on Tim and Charleen and their boys Leo and Oliver, my little cousin-nephews.

It just happened to also be Charleen's 39th birthday, so we bought her some birthday cake-lollipops.

And sang Happy Birthday to Mommy.

Oliver got an ice cream cone cookie.

The boys are really into animals and Planet Earth right now.

Leo: "I like deep sea creatures and saw-toothed eels and isopods and snakes."
Oliver: "I like BUNNIES!"

The boys are also really into coloring right now.

After the printer ran out of paper/ink, I took requests and drew little drawings for them to color in.

Leo, obsessed with snakes, asked for a snake.

Oliver asked for a POOPSNAKE.

(Both are really obsessed with poop right now.)

................................................

On Sunday we went to Taylor's Kitchen for brunch. The boys stayed entertained while waiting for their food by playing on their iPhones. It is crazy that 3-year-olds these days have their own iPhones.

Or maybe these boys are just spoiled.

WE WANT FOOOOOD!

Leo loves bacon.

I love breakfast burritos.

Oliver loves to barely eat.

After breakfast I thought I'd spoil them more and take them toy shopping.

If you ever want little kids to like you and chant "UNCLE DENNIS IS THE BEST" so that the whole restaurant can hear, just tell them you want to take them to Toys R' Us.

Correction: Oliver: "Toys R' POOP R' Us!"

I used to looooove Toys R Us when I was little.

Both boys wanted stuffed animals.

Leo found himself a snake and some hot wheels.

Ollie found himself a bunny and was riding it around the store.

Both were quite happy I think.

Yay spoiled boys.

And then I drove back to San Francisco and flew home to NYC. Which is where I am now.

You can read more about Leo and Oliver on Charleen's blog here.

HK Food n Fam n Baby Oliver!

Zoe is 3 years older than Leo. But she is my cousin. And Leo is my cousin Charleen's son. So Zoe is Leo's Auntie.

Auntie Zoe!

The kids love to play.

And for the first time ever I met Baby Oliver!

He is the most beautiful Asian babychild to have ever lived.

Remember long long ago when he was just a baby on the way and I threatened that I would call him Oliver even if that didn't end up being his official name?

Well he was born and named and this was my first time seeing him.

I think he is so beautiful because he is unofficially named after our long lost supermodel friend Oliver.

Anyway. All we do in HK is eat and play and eat. And because MaMa (my grandma) lives mainly to eat and watch TV and play mahjong and eat, we roll to every meal as an entourage - usually 20-30 strong - and go to YUMMIEST restaurants in HK.

Also because it is her 90th, she was showered with gifts of flowers and gold.

Family reunions are the best!

Gnomgnomgnom.

And the kids always keep things new and exciting and hilarious because they're discovering everything for the first time.

Oliver can always be depended on for the choice quote of the day:

For example, experience the "Auntie Zoe Game":

Leo: (points at Zoe) "Hahaaa - You're Auntie Zoe."
Zoe: (points at Leo) "No YOU'RE Auntie Zoe."
Leo: (points at me) "No, YOU'RE Auntie Zoe."
Me: (pointing at Oliver) "No, YOU'RE Auntie Zoe."
Oliver: (points at me) "...You're Auntie POOP."

OMG how cute is his "I Dig Bones" shirt????

And at 2 years old, Oliver knows how to play Angry Birds and is actually quite good at it!

We LOVES Baby Oliver!!!!
