Thoughts on Chick-Fil-A

A friend of a friend posted this on Facebook. If I could have "liked" it 1,000 times I would have.

"Thoughts on the Chick-Fil-A controversy after two weeks of hearing all sides..."

Chick-Fil-A has lost every bit of merit that they ever had as a good, well structured Christian company and here's why: Being raised a Christian, I was never taught to hate or try to oppress any group no matter what the bible said. When I gave money into the collection plate, I knew it was going to relief missions or to help people that were in need. That's the Christian world I knew and grew up in. People had their beliefs but kept them between themselves and God. Chick-Fil-A has bastardized religion and used the phony family friendly bible front to funnel tons on money into hateful missions. Why not give those 5 million to the starving children of THIS country, or to help fund a hospital in a poor community, or a million other things that are better than what they did. As long as they continue fueling money where they do, I continue to fight and hope to see those neon light signs turned off for good.

And then we add to that, that after the Jim Henson Company had the bravery to come out and say they disagree with the company and will be pulling their toys from their restaurants, what does Chick-Fil-A do? The good Christian thing...they lie. They put signs at their stores saying the Jim Henson toys were no longer around because they were a child hazard AND make fake Facebook accounts to pose as Chick-Fil-A enthusiasts supporting the brand. Yes, that's the good Christian message I want for my kids...Lie to cover up the mistakes you make. Don't ever show humility and realize you were wrong...lie lie lie and cover up those tracks!

With that, more thoughts:

If you are a gay man or woman and still eating Chick-Fil-A, you are a fucking idiot. Those "cute" Facebook posts about how guilty you feel but how good it is to eat there, just make you look dumb and how badly you are in need of growing a pair. The people who you JUST gave YOUR money to HATE you....they HATE YOU and want to make sure you have no happy future in sight! How much clearer can it all be? If you continue to do so, you might as well fund Rick Santorum or Michelle Bachman's next reelection bid, because THAT is the side of history you are on.

If you are a heterosexual friend or family member of mine who "has no problem with gay marriage" or "totally supports and loves the gays" but still eats at Chick-Fil-A because that deep fried Chicken is sooooo good...you also disgust me. Supporting LGBT rights isn't a popular stance or the cool thing to do/say, it means that you support equality all the time and do not support those who do not EVER. It means that you won't choose a chicken sandwich over a friend or family member. That is what it really comes down to honestly, do you choose fast food over someone you love?

And finally, those who think that the mayors of these cities shouldn't get involved in allowing Chick-Fil-A to be in their cities, I put it to you this way....What if Chick-Fil-A funneled millions into groups that want to suppress the black/latino/asian communities? Think there wouldn't be a larger problem then? Civil rights are civil rights.

Know your enemy. Know where your morals are. Know to be on the right side of history."
