On our way back from Boston, we popped into Providence for a quick lunch with Dan and Emily and Henry!!!!!
Henry is super chatty now. And he has a brand new coloring book!
I also did a quick photo shoot for the Resminis. If you live in RI, you know the Resminis because their faces are everywhere. Bus stops, billboards, and on the back of every single phone book in every single home.
I had been reconnected with Jay back when he was on The Bachelorette...
And I constantly harass him about how horrendous their "professional" photos are from year to year.
Finally I was able to convince him to get some DK Headshots.
SO much better if I do say so myself.
And now my photo is going to be on the back of every phonebook in RI!
(Do people still even use phonebooks? I think in RI they do!)

I saw THE BABY
Just a few weeks ago Dan and Emily were totes preggos.

But preggos they are no more.
I went up to RI the other day after the Gastler Retreat to see THE BABY.

He has to wear little braces on his legs because his legs keep falling out of their sockets or something but it should be fine once the ligaments form. Not a big deal at all.

Jersey Shore!
Today I drove down to the Jersey Shore where Dan and Emily have rented a little beach house for the week.
I figured it'd be a nice getaway where I can relax, lay low, and get some work accomplished.

For dinner we went to a delicious seafood restaurant that served Buffalo Blue Cheese Calamaris.
They were incredible.

And then there was a beautiful sunset.

Tomorrow I'm going to do some GTL.
Where we are is about 12 miles south of Seaside Heights, where MTV's "Jersey Shore" was filmed.

It's a totally different world, not a Situation in sight.

Dan and Emily are preggos.
I forgot to mention this a few months ago when I found out, but Dan and Emily are totally pregnant.

I still suspect that it might be a foodbaby due to too many Venezuelan Hamburgers, but they insist it is a realbaby.
I saw them for lunch yesterday. (Made a quick trip to RI to grab some stuff I needed for my taxes.)
They're doing great.
I'm trying to convince them to name it Kwan.
Baby is due in August!

Uhh-Rape-Us / FoodMovie / Heart-Attack Hambo
So here's a little meal I had the other day that caught me off guard.
Like literally we had to twitter that shit so fast because it was gnomgnomgnomgnom yummy.

I was up in RI visiting Dr Dan and Dr-Mrs. Emily.
Dr Dan originally wanted pizza. But I am surrounded by pizza in NYC and wanted something "healthier".
He said howz about Venezuelan food?
I said...hmmmm....ok.
We arrived at La Arepa for some arepas (Uhhh.....rape us!) which are little corn cakes filled with meat.

I had no interest in arepas...because something else caught my eye.
Anyway. For starters. We had a total Dr Dan appetizer.
Hot dogs and potatoes covered in creamy sauce.

And then (no "and then!") I had
THE VENEZUELAN HAMBURGER

Hands down the singlemost amazing hamburger I have ever had in my life.
For $5.25!
Here's what it is:
Thick juicy burger patty with a mountain of roquefort cheese, ham, bacon, a fried egg, avocado (optional), lettuce, tomato, onions, mayo, mustard, special sauce.
Heavenly Heart-Attack Hamburgy Goodness.

After the meal we drove up to Boston to see Julie/Julia with Kathryn.

It was really cute and should seriously be rated XXX for being French foodporn.
Afterwards we had beer.

And talked to statues.

I love being on the East Coast and being able to make day trips to Beantown...

Dan & Emily's Wedding
updated with new photos courtesy of RobbStey

So the wedding day had finally arrived.
At 5pm we headed to the Botanical Gardens at Roger Williams Park.
There were about 250 guests.
Us darkies were seated way in the back.

The ceremony was underway pretty quickly...
Dan was too tall for the Chuppah and had to kind of slouch down the entire ceremony. Kind of funny.
He waited eagerly for his bride as the man on the steel drum played Pachelbel's Canon.

Emily came out, escorted by her parents, looking beautiful, so happy, and SO nervous...
As she entered, her eyes quickly scanned the packed room, finally taking in the magnitude of it all for the first time...
She welled up with tears. It was the most beautiful thing I have ever seen.

After some words and the typical semi-Jewish wedding proceedings, Emily circled Dan seven times...

And Dan circled Emily seven times...

The officiant lady read some nice words...

Family members read some nice words...

They each said their vows.

They exchanged rings, tried to stomp and break a glass (failing a few times)...
...and that was it. They were married.

Beautiful.

Following the ceremony there was a cocktail hour in the Botanical Gardens.
While everyone mixed and mingled, Emily's best friend Erin and I were out back by the dumpsters pounding drinks and rehearsing our joint speech nervously.

The speech went great. I think...

And then everyone moved down to the tent for dinner.

The tables for guests all had different names.

If there was ever any doubt that ours was going to be the rowdiest table, that all vanished when we discovered that they had chosen to call ours "Hala".

We lived up to our name throughout speeches and dances and more speeches - being loud, drunk, and generally obnoxious.

Dinner was yummy.

Drinks flowed freely.

Robb and I looked totally awesome.

(I think if we ever got married we would definitely have a Ralph Lauren-themed wedding.)

Farshid was rocking a sweet fake earring.

And Dan's twin brothers Jason and Jeremy, clad in pink vests, looked kind of like a hot gay couple.
(They're not.)

There was a 25-minute rendition of Hava Nagila Hava where we danced in a circle and threw people around on chairs for what seemed like an eternity.
Seriously, Dan and Emily are the most perfect couple ever and seeing them so happy just made every single person in the room unbelievably happy.

Well that...and the alcohol.

After the wedding we cabbed back to Providence where blacked-out ridiculousness ensued.
Imran (obliterated) was hitting on an Asian girl who spoke zero English.
She was cold. He put his suit jacket around her. And she totally just left the club with it...along with his iPhone and credit cards.
Nice.

Phew.

Amazing wedding.
