LAX -> JFK... PigFlu = Empty Flights!

So last week, I introduced you to the beautiful KristinaKlebe.

During her photoshoot, I confessed to her how I was terrified of flying to NY this week amidst the whole PigFlu ordeal and how I was planning to wear a mask regardless of what people might think or do.

Well she admitted that she felt the same way!

I was amazed. Kristina kills ZOMBIES for a living!

Anyway, she had been wanting to go to NYC for a few auditions and because her family lives there. So she bought tickets for my Delta flight so that we could travel together in style.

(By the way, her 24 audition apparently went awesome and though she hasn't been called back, they are shooting in NYC next season and I just have a feeling deep within my soul that she is destined to be a recurring character on 24 if not next season then at some point soon.)

So yay. Traveling with friends makes life so much more fun.

Goodbye awful urban sprawl!

Hello Rocky Mountains!

After enjoying one of the most yummy meals I've ever had on a flight (short ribs with wasabi/garlic mashed potatoes)...

We braved walking through the flu-infested peasantry and headed to the back of the plane to find it almost completely empty!

Yay PigFlu!

Yay full rows of seats all to ourselves!

Still, we took precautions. Better to be safe than swineflu-ed!

Klebe totally rocks a flu-mask the way Danny rocks geek glasses.

Fierce!

Flu mask also functions as a great eye-cover for sleeping! Amazing!

I LOVE DELTA 4 EVA!!!

-------------------------------------

OK. It is 3:50 am NYC time.

Still on West Coast time but I really must sleep now because we're going out 4 nights in a row starting tomorrow...well today.

Yoinks.

Apparently I am not alone in my fear.

Bobbo flies to NYC tomorrow.

Pray for him that he does not get the pigflu.

ME NO WANT PIGFLU

I'm flying next week.

Little bit nervous.

Hopefully I will not have to sit with the peasant-y proletariat.

Thank you Dr. Dan for providing surgical masks.

Get your masks out! It's monky time!

One of the funnier things about Hong Kong is how it is deemed socially acceptable and in fact totally appropriate to don a gas mask/surgical mask in public.

I guess if we went through a bird flu/SARS scare, we'd understand it too. But we didn't. So we don't.

To us, these Hongkys are just totally silly.

You know what else is silly...that stupid saying that "imitation is the highest form of flattery."

So we went to the bird market.

Birds, birds, everywhere.

And maybe a little avian flu.

Next we went to Genki Sushi for conveyor belt sushi.

Got my stitches out...

Went to temple...

And then I brought Anne in to meet with this Hong Kong modeling agent that I work with.

They loved her look and I wouldn't be surprised if you saw her on some random Asian billboard sometime soon.

Next, dad brought us to the Hong Kong Botanical Gardens where they have a mini-zoo full of monkys!

Everything from orangytangs to baboons to marmosets to cotton-topped tamarins to little baby monkys.

ME LOVE ME SOME MONKY

Also there were stupid flamingos.

Took the Star Ferry to cross the harbor back to Kowloon...

Walked down the Avenue of Stars...

And finally returned home where Mercy and Jo were cooking up a massive New Year's Eve feast.

And Zoe was writing a Christmas card to her biggest hero of all time: Iron Chef Cat Cora.

Asked why she admires Cat Cora so much, she replied: "Because she's so stylish!"

Ok. Time to rest up for a big night out.

Happy New Year!
