HKFOOD...and wedding

A Hong Kong trip wouldn't be complete with a gluttony recap.

My grandma's favorite food is the Cheesecrab at Ming Court. It's not exactly a healthfood.

Yummy pea shoots are good for you though!

MMmmmmm...

We also had a nice indian meal with Lambchops and Chicken Makhni.

And don't forget the beef and garlic flake appetizer at Ajisen Ramen. It is heavenly.

Teebags is one of the best eatbuddies ever.

My grandma is small.

For our last meal, Gooma brought us all to the Boston Clipper restaurant at the American Club. They recently got a new chef and the food is unreal. Like, better than the food I had at Daniel, and a fraction of the price.

There were so many delicious things on the menu we just ordered a bunch of everything and did a lot of sharing.

Yellowtail sashimi heyyyy

Steak tartare mmmmmm

Lobster pesto orzo risotto gahhhhh

Tagliatelle bolognese I die...

Lamb shanks thanks

And the $20 meatball sandwich oh it was gooood

And for dessrt they had bonbons and cookies

And ginger souffle.

Oh and DUH the whole reason I came to Hong Kong the first place (kind of) was for my cousin Christine's wedding!

Chinese weddings are weird because they take place usually in a restaurant. Like the ceremony and everything. Her "aisle" was lined with dinner tables. This wedding was held in the Owner's Box at the Hong Kong Jockey Club.

Cousins Jeff and Jon were there with their girlfriend/wife. The outdoor balcony with the racetrack and buildings behind it made for a beautiful evening backdrop.

And at a Chinese wedding there is no dancing. But there is a feast!

Complete with flatpig!

Scallops!

And shark fin soup!

And while there is no dancing at a Chinese ceremony, there is plenty of mahjong, or - in our case, poker!

OK, that's all for HK!

Next up: Willis's 30th Birthday Party in Atlantic City!

HK Friday/Saturday

Friday night before going out we had a lovely dinner at the Hong Kong Yacht Club, overlooking the harbor and skyline, (it's the same place where we kicked off the New Year back in 2010.)

Then we headed to LKF for drinks and asian posing.

And of course in HK we are followed by tray and trays of shots...

...and flaming bottles of alcohol everywhere we go.

We started the night at Tazmania Ballroom

Drank...

And posed.

Then ended up at Dragon-i, which is always a scene.

The room exploded with fire when Tim's ridiculous friend purchased a 6-Liter bottle of Belvedere.

I think the thing cost just under $10K. And I'm talking US dollars. Global recession what?

The bottle was so big it required two helper Asians to pour.

Yummy!

Clarence popped in for a few minutes.

Deerfield reunion!

And then as if the endless vodka wasn't enough, we got bottles of champagne.

I love the lightshow at D-i.

Around 3:30am, Timmo brought us to Gourmet Burger Union, which is apparently new and very very delicious. I don't even remember my burger. But I am told it was a truffleburger. And I am told I devoured it.

These guys definitely devoured theirs!

----------------------------

The next day (Saturday) we were super hungover and super useless. Barely made it out of the house until nightfall.

I popped over to Teresa's new pad which overlooks the Bank of China. Pretty sick.

We journeyed out to Euge's property in Repulse Bay that has this amazing view of the bay.

It's this enormous 4-story home that nobody lives in and that they only use for random dinners and bbqs and it has just been standing there untouched for probably decades and could easily be renovated into an epic party palace or just a really fancy home.

I mean imagine if this enormous barren 3rd floor semi-outdoor space were converted into a sick master bedroom...it'd be crazy!

And Eugene is crazy for not taking full advantage of the place.

TL and TL2 are now besties!

Dinner was delicious. Euge had 6 friends in town from Singapore and so had hired a chef from Philiahome Private Kitchen to make us an epic 14 person meal.

There was spicy mac n cheese with 4 different cheeses.

There was a pear and walnut salad.

Chilean Sea Bass

Scallops and Sausage with Lentils or something.

And much much more. Scrumptious.

There really is no end to the eating in HK.

Will post some more foodporn soon!
