29th Birthday Partybus

Years ago we did the Super Party Bus.

For our 29th birthday, Todd and I decided to again rent a partybus. But not just any partybus...a La Chiva Colombian Partybus.

It's a converted school bus with flashing lights, fog machines, live DJ, and bartender.

In short, it's AWESOME.

Charles was awesome enough to host a BBQ Preparty at Mark & Todd's.

Mark and Todd's is where Megoon and Dan first met back in 2006 at the New Years White Party. So it was super cute to see them back where it all first began. (They are now married.)

(P.S. In case you're wondering why Megoon looks a little "different"... she had texted me earlier in the day that she had "put on a whorish amount of makeup" in my honor.)

Loved it!

It was a coming-together of all our favorite NYC friends.

We prepartied for a good 2 hours.

While most partybuses take you from bar to bar, on this bus the party is on the bus.

We got on and it was instant mayhem.

My only gripe is that the partybus had super-low ceilings which did not allow for good aerial group photos...or general standing for giants.

Yeah...pictures can't fully convey the epicness of La Chiva Partybus.

In a lot of pictures it looks like everyone's kind of turned away from each other disengaged...

But really that's because everyone had their head out their respective windows SCREAMING songs at the top of their lungs at passers-by. This literally went on for the four hours straight. And it NEVER got old.

Here's a video that gives you a semi-good idea of how it went down.

"Empire State of Mind" is, in general, one of the most annoyingly overplayed songs ever...but in the case of Partybus...it was PERFECT:

It was nuts. We drove through Times Square like five times until finally we got yelled at by the po-po.

A lot of bystanders looked at us totally bewildered...

While we just sang our faces off to each and every song.

(BTW if you want a copy of our party bus playlist, which also makes for a great workout mix, you can download it here.)

Most of the pedestrians loved us. Though we did get flipped off quite a few times as well.

We felt like total rockstars.

My favorite people all came together! In fact, it was Megoon's first time ever meeting the fabled TimLoh, though she had known of his existence for years.

The streets were packed with pedestrians...in the middle of the night!

We got out in Times Square and took some epic group fotos. (And lost like half our group in the process.)

It was so much fun!

Melanie found Elmo on our way back to the bus.

It is weird to think that the dude under the suit could be/probably was just some dirty old pervert, but Melanie was perfectly comfortable with pressing her bottom into his groinal area...

Such an amazing night!

I love a Partybus!!!!

All in all, a great night. I love New York City!
