The Devil really does wear Prada.

Prior to coming to the airport today, I went up to Times Square to meet up with Anne for lunch at Carmine's. YUM.

Anne and her fellow New Yorkers all frown upon Carmine's the way LA people frown upon chain restaurants and European people frown upon American food in general.

Huge portions and totally classless.

I don't care.

I love giant meatballs. I love pizza bread. I love Carmine's.

Anne even admitted through a mouthful of meatball that yes it is pretty good.

....................

Upon leaving Anne was like, "Oh I forgot! I brought you the new VF for reading on the plane."

Which reminded me that, "hellooooo I have never seen your office and I SOOOOO want to."

(It's funny how when you work in a world like hers or in something like music videos or something it's inevitable that you start taking your daily life for granted and you forget those younger days when it was all so mysterious and magical and awesome and foreign to you.)

So anyway. Anne said of course I could go see her office and she assured me that nobody would judge me for my ill-attire and giant nosemonster because I was with her and she is universally adored.

YAY!!!!

....................

From the second I walked into the building I felt like I was on the set of The Devil Wears Prada.

Beautiful model-looking women everywhere all dressed to the nines.

People scurrying from place to place because their boss is crazy or insane or mean or all of the above.

It was awesome.

The cafeteria was designed by Frank Gehry and is totally awesome and subsidized and fancy.

And Annie's little office? Well...I'll let the pictures speak for themselves.

Yay for magazine empires and free airplane reading material!

I think I caught a glimpse of my future today and I can't wait until I'm a regular fixture in those offices.

Superman DVD Launch Party

We went back to Social Hollywood last night as they were hosting the Superman DVD and Videogame launch party.

It was tooooooootallly sweeeeeeeeeeeet.

Inside, the special function room (which had been closed every other time we were there) had been transformed into a laser lightshow ice palace.

The bars were made of ice...

The drinks were made of glowing...

There was a photo booth...

And nifty little gymnast people.

(I liked the boy one better).

Not pictured was the yumminy-yum food which included mini-burgers, hot dogs, and Social's special mac and cheese, the best I've ever had in my life.

It was a very sweet party.

By the way, I did actually see The Routh again, but failed to take his picture as he passed me quickly on his way up to the VIP Room (where I guess we were not special enough to go).

Sad face.

Ant Bully Premiere

Sunday afternoon, special thanks to Narnicle the Barnicle, we attended the World Premiere of the animated film Ant Bully at Mann's Chinese Theater.

I was very excited at the thought of possibly of bumping into Julia Roberts and making her my new best friend.

It was neat. The movie was a little on the ehhhh side. There was no Julia. But all-in-all still a fun experience.

Premieres are really not all that different from your average trip to the theater except for the barricaded fans, swarms of paparazzi, really large floats/decorations...

Much more reasonably-priced soda and popcorn...

Assigned seating, giant theater, and maybe a celebrity sighting or two...

God Bless You My Mongoloid Friend!!!!

SUPERMAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11111

Naia, bless her beautiful beating heart, invited us to the Family & Friends Premiere of SUPERMAN RETURNS up at the Warner Brothers lot yesterday afternoon.

As we pulled up to Gate 5, there was a brief moment of horror when my name "wasn't on the list". (Cue seizure-inducing flashbacks to Naia's birthday party.)

Luckily, it was all just a mistake and it turned out that the list-checker girl was a moron with the reading skills of a blueberry muffin.

We arrived to a packed theater (500-ish people) and were forced to sit near the front, which actually turned out to be yay because Bryan Singer himself was there to introduce his movie.

He was very cute and nervous.

The movie opened to screams and cheers and it really is the only way to watch a superhero movie.

The opening credits sent chills through my entire body.

They were sooooo good.

We watched probably the first hour of the movie all giggling and giddy and stupid, still not believing that we were actually watching SUPERMAN.

Oh it is good.

Brandon Routh? Gooooooood.

When the credits finally rolled 2 1/2 hours later, the house lights came on, there was a standing ovation, and Brandon Routh and Kevin Spacey "surprised us" by stepping out of the shadows and onto the stage.

It took several minutes for the applause to die down.

Afterwards there was a reception, at which Naia was that girl.

Also........there was wine.

In the far more articulate and wit-filled words of the great Megoon:

"As far as the movie goes, I can't give an unbiased review. You will not have it introduced by an endearingly, pants-crappingly nervous Bryan Singer. Nor will Brandon Routh and Kevin Spacey bound on stage afterwards, to tout our presence and support and explain what those little green men in the HBO First Look special were doing behind the Man of Steel.

That said, you'll still see the close-up of a bullet bouncing off Superman's eye, and all of Parker Posey's batty hairstyles. The movie was pretty awesome."

WE SAW SUPERMAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

NAIA WE LOVE YOU
