Brown Event @ Juliet

The Brown Club of NYC threw a Fall Bash at Juliet Supper Club in Chelsea on Thursday night.

Kate and I had seen the invite long ago and decided to jump on it right away. 3-hour open bar + open food = I'm in.

There were tons of delicious passed hors d'oeuvres.

We were joined by our long lost Chloefriend who has just moved back to NYC after finishing business school....

We ate several meatballs in sauce...

And then we also found my fellow-giant Jessiefriend.

Chloe got hit on by a hottie halfie...that we later found out was Class of 2011.

OMG we are entering cougardom.

Boat Basin

There was a Brown Mixer at Boat Basin the other day.

We watched yet another gorgeous sunset.

And there was a doggy!

And a few giants!

I went to meet up with my fellow giant Jessie.

Oh look!

A family of raccoons lives right in the Boat Basin bar. The staff don't really mind them and everyone thinks they're adorable.

And then we all went home with rabies.

Smileywine Party @ the Bel Air Vineyard

So the morning after Halloween (yes I am seriously behind in blogging) I rolled out of bed off the couch still wearing my taco costume and tried to get myself together for the Annual Brown Gala at the Bel Air Vineyard.

The wonderful family that owns the vineyard (which produces Smileywine) also happens to be family of Brown alums!

Their home (which is also the vineyard) was gargantuan.

Honestly these pictures will never do the property justice, but here goes.

You walk in through the main entrance...

And you're in the grand foyer...

Walk through the foyer, through the dining room...

Through the kitchen...

Out onto the back patio...

Once out on the back patio there's the pool and an incredible view of the vineyard.

Also there's a pond of very happy Koi.

Beyond the pool lies the tennis court...

And beyond that lies another elevated terrace, beyond which finally lies the vineyard.

We brunched to the music of a delightful string quartet.

The food spread was epic.

Finger sandwiches...

Tuna-cucumbers.

Smoked salmon thingys...

And of course, MEATBALLS.

YUM.

Lots of Brown alums from all years attended.

And though there was no Smileywine in sight (they opted to break out the nicer, pricier varietals) there was plenty to drink.

I love Browns!

In the late afternoon there was a raffle, with prizes ranging from fancy dinners to a trip to Hawaii to a photo session with a really amazing photographer (me)...

My friend (and super-successful voiceover artist) Amanda ended up winning the photo session.

Yay! It was such a great Sunday. I really wish there had been Smileywine because everyone was all smiles all day long.

We did, of course, have to take at least one obligatory fierceface picture because (a.) we are assholes and (b.) fierce-facing is FUN!

Best week ever!

Brown Bash '09

The other night, Brown Club NY held Brown Bash 2009 at this great Chelsea bar called The Gates.

It was open bar, but cover was $75 and I couldn't find anyone who wanted to go... and I wasn't about to pay that much just so I could drink myself into oblivion alone....but at the last minute Laura texted me saying she happened to work in the adjacent cubicle to the president of Brown Club NY and was able to get me into the event for free if I agreed to take a couple of pretty little party pictures at the event.

As if I wouldn't have anyway....done and done.

The place was krazy krowded.

And filled with Browns from every generation.

I was surprised to see several familiar faces.

Including Doug, who I met several weeks back when we karry-oked our faces off, and who I had just read about in The Four Hour Workweek, because he also just happens to be best friends with the author, Tim Ferriss.

At a certain point I introduced Doug to Ellen and Brooke who proceeded to openly fight over his last remaining business card. It was a little bit sad.

Girls are crazy!

Yay Brown!
