Goony Birthday Friendchicken / Celebrity Sighting!

Megoon has turned 30!

For her birthday she won the Momofuku Fried Chicken Friendchicken Dinner.

(You may remember my having gone once or twice before...)

Walking in we noticed a curiously familiar in a red hat sitting at the bar, right in the window...Michael Cera!

And he was eating with former co-star Alia Shawkat (his sister Maeby Fünke on Arrested Development)!!!

Megoon pretended to take a picture of me and caught a snap of her on the way to the bathroom.

Wine flowed freely as we (I) plotted how to befriend George Michael and Maeby...should we send them some sake? Offer them a piece of chicken? In the end we did nothing and just stared like idiots.

Friendchicken arrived.

We grew double chins just THINKING about eating them.

No seriously, Melania grew like four of them. Count em'!

DK2 and I raced to eat the most chickens.

While always keeping a close eye on George Michael...unfortunately the only time he left his perch was to leave the restaurant. :-(

Maeby went to the bathroom like twice though.

Chickens were devoured.

We are piggy monsters.

Happiest 30th Birthday Megoon!

FriedChicken/FriendChicken -> Meatsweats

Kristen had no idea what she was getting herself into when she received an invite from AC for the second Momofuku Fried Chicken (FriendChicken) dinner.

I won't bore you with details on the lottery system and how you win the meal, but if you want you can read the first post on it when we went originally and try to win this thing for yourself.

Still perfectly fried and delicious.

This time though, we all broke into meatsweats instantly.

(You know, when you get all sweaty from eating a lot of meat...)

Thank you AC for having the worst job ever so that the highlight of your day is entering Momofuku's daily foodlottery in order to win eatparties for your friends!

Momofuku Fried Chicken Dinner

So among foodies in NYC, Momofuku's Fried Chicken Dinner is one of the hottest tickets in town.

You have to brave the weird online reservation system where it's harder to secure a reservation than it is to score Lady Gaga tickets.

AC, after three months of trying, finally got a rezzie, just in time for his birthday.

You show up at the restaurant, and you don't even have to wait in the crazy line. A table was waiting just for us.

The fried chicken is served with four sauces and you eat it in a wrap Peking Duck-style.

The fried chicken is served in two styles. The Southern-style chicken is fried with a buttermilk and old bay batter. The Korean-style chicken is triple fried and served with a light spicy glaze.

There is a set portion for the table and costs a flat fee of $100 and serves up to 8 people. (Or 4-5 beastly boys.) (Or 2 obeses.)

We had 6 people (4 boys who can EAT and two tiny girls) and we were plenty full.

DEEEE-RICIOUS!
