There's just no way we weren't going to.
Life is too perfect. Things just work out.
God bless the sweet baby jesus.
I met KG at the theater at 5:30 to line up for the daily ticket lottery.
Each day they award two front-row seats to 17 people for the cheapo price of $20 a ticket.
The show ends its twelve-year run in September. As such, hundreds of people showed up trying to win the tickets.
I gave $2 to the homeless man outside the theater in exchange for instant karma.
We filled out our cards...
And at 6pm they started calling out the names of the winners.
We waited...and waited...
...and with only two names remaining to be called...we won.
With two hours before showtime, we celebrated with Italian food.
Finally...it was showtime.
Our seats were ridiculous.
Seriously, we were so close that the actors continually showered us with spit as they sang.
The show was INCREDIBLE.
I'd seen the movie. And I loved it. But the live show is exponentially better and blew me away.
Tracie Thoms, who plays Joanne in the movie, played the same role onstage tonight. The girl who played Mimi had the sickest body I have ever seen. And every single singer, down to even the minor background characters, had an incredible voice.
It. Was. So. Good.
Watching Rent on the heels of Spring Awakening made me realize what a totally uninspired turdfest the latter show is.
KG left the theater skipping and singing.
As I pranced out of the theater into Times Square, I pretty much felt as good as you possibly can about life.
NYC is so awesome.
I have to live here soon.
I thought spring awakenings was really good!!! Haven't seen rent though so I can't compare...
