Vitri's Wedding: Day 1 - Arrival, Preparation, and Hilarious Felixpics

So Felix's sister Vitri's wedding is an event I've been looking forward to for months. Indian weddings, in general, are incredible multiple-day events featuring beautiful clothing, delicious foods, and a giant horse-led parade. This was no exception.

Wednesday | June 24, 2009

We hopped on a quick 1-hour flight from JFK to Buffalo to begin final preparations for Vitri's four-day Indian wedding.

We met Kathy, Yvonne, and family at the airport.

Samosas were waiting when we arrived at the Bhandari house.

Samosas and buffalo wings...the last meatfoods we would see for the next four days.

In preparation we did all kinds of tasks.

We unpacked party favors...

Set up the basement for orphan-style sleeping accomodations for all the cousins and cousin-friends...

Finalized table configurations...

Prepared for our continually-occurring clothing changes...

And, of course, scoured the house for the countless incredible photos of Felix and Vitri as hilarious-looking children.

Amazing.

Broadway Bares!

For the Grand Finale to our epic Kross Kuntry Adventure. We attended Broadway Bares, a one-night-only charity event put on by the hottest male and female performers on Broadway.

Basically there are 12 musical numbers featuring incredible choreography with scantily clad hotties.

The show was sold out, but several of my former headshot clients were involved in the show so we got hooked up with tickets. Yay!

To check out a video from a few years ago: click here

(The production values of our show I think were much much better.)

We got the Roseland Ballroom, where the show was being held, and it was PACKED.

We bumped into Browngays Mark and JoeScat...

And (of course) devised a sneaky-asian scheme involving fake wristbands to get us up front into the VIP section...

The theme this year was "Click It"...

So the opening number involved Internet SURFing...

My client Eddie was in the opening number (below, right).

Another number was "You've Got Mail/Male"...

There was a random "Stimulus Package" themed number...

A tribute to the EPIC YouTube Music Video "Shoes"...

A number featuring naked aerialists...

Some all-girl numbers...

A surprise appearance by Broadway icon Allison Janney...

(which received a well-deserved 10-minute-long applause)...

And then, what I think was the sexiest number, "Fantasy Football".

And then there was the grand finale which featured all hundred or so performers...

And an appearance by the guy from Ugly Betty...

Amazing amazing show. I would have paid just to see the opening number.

At a certain point, Danny turned to me and said "L.A. SUCKS!!!!!"... and it's true, such an intricately organized event could never be put be put on by a bunch of volunteers in L.A...

NYC IS THE BEST!

Thank you Danny for accompanying me on our amazing adventure!

Kurta Quest / EatFest

Sunday | July 21, 2009

Felly and I went to Jackson Heights in Queens to search for Kurta Pajamas (Indian clothing) for his sister's upcoming wedding.

Being in Jackson Heights is like being in India.

For lunch we had an epic meal at the Jackson Diner.

Later that evening we went to Employee's Only in the West Village.

It was DE-licious.

Cheeseplate...

Meatplate...

Steak Tartare...

Lambchops...

Gnocchi...

Cavatelli with Sausage and Arugula...

YUM.
