Nisha & Todd's Engagement

Todd emailed me Monday night and said he was planning to propose to Miss Nisha on Tuesday and wanted to see if I was in town and free to capture it.

I think my favorite thing in the world to do is to capture a proposal. It is always such a fun, emotionally-charged, happy event.

Todd had planned to do it on the rooftop of the NoMad hotel. They had lunch reservations downstairs and had worked it out with the host (who apparently is the worst actor ever) who was "in on it" and told them their table wasn't ready yet but they were welcome to go upstairs to check out the rooftop where champagne and flowers had been set up.

Semi-funny story. I got there about a half hour early when the helpers were setting everything up. And it was windy so the flower vase kept blowing over and the roses and water would spill and scatter EVERYWHERE.

This happened like three times. We even tried to duct tape the vase to the table to no avail.

So I had to keep texting Todd to see where he was and as they were about to come up from the lobby I alerted the little helper lady and she ran out and set up the flowers and said a little prayer and then scurried away and we crossed our fingers that the vase wouldn't blow over again while Todd was doing his thing.

It worked out.

Nisha reacted the way I just love all my brides-to-be to react.

It was soy cute.

My fave is her reaction when I came out from my hiding spot and she finally noticed me.

Love when people are happy to see me!

I wish I could have captured the whole thing from this angle...but there was nowhere to hide. Maybe it's time to invest in a rock or bush costume.

We popped some champagnes...

They were so cute...

Congratulations Todd & Nishi!!!

In case you're wondering where I was hiding, it was in this little window where I almost died.

Yay! Cannot wait for their DK Wedding!

AC and Shiri's Engagement

I was hiding behind a pillar. It was the most beautiful engagement ever and raised the bar for all engagments to come. AC hired a string trio (originally a quartet but one person couldn't make it) and told them to start playing their song "Wonderwall" as he and shiri started walking close. As they played, a "crowd" began to gather around. He got down on one knee and proposed.

She accepted and they embraced.

And then the crowd applauded. It was only then that Shiri realized that the crowd was made up of all their friends and family who had flown in from Texas, Boston, etc.

Tears and smiles were everywhere. It was amazing.

Originally we were in the plaza in front of the fountain at Lincoln Center and we were all scurrying back and forth up until the very last minutes. But because of the rain, one of the violin bitches REFUSED to get her "$30,000 instrument" wet. Here's what THAT proposal would have looked like...

But you know what, these things happen for a reason. And if we hadn't been in that other position, I never would have gotten as clear a shot of her face as we did in that top picture (you can barely see it in the silhouette above) and that little light behind her ring hand just happened to be there, magical. So yeah. You just gotta go with the flow, and remember that no matter what happens, the end result is the same and you have a great story to tell.

Congratulations AC and Shiri! I could not be happier for two of my favorite people.
