Sacramento!

After the wedding brunch on Saturday, I rented a car and drove up to Sacramento to check in on Tim and Charleen and their boys Leo and Oliver, my little cousin-nephews.

It just happened to also be Charleen's 39th birthday, so we bought her some birthday cake-lollipops.

And sang Happy Birthday to Mommy.

Oliver got an ice cream cone cookie.

The boys are really into animals and Planet Earth right now.

Leo: "I like deep sea creatures and saw-toothed eels and isopods and snakes."
Oliver: "I like BUNNIES!"

The boys are also really into coloring right now.

After the printer ran out of paper/ink, I took requests and drew little drawings for them to color in.

Leo, obsessed with snakes, asked for a snake.

Oliver asked for a POOPSNAKE.

(Both are really obsessed with poop right now.)

................................................

On Sunday we went to Taylor's Kitchen for brunch. The boys stayed entertained while waiting for their food by playing on their iPhones. It is crazy that 3-year-olds these days have their own iPhones.

Or maybe these boys are just spoiled.

WE WANT FOOOOOD!

Leo loves bacon.

I love breakfast burritos.

Oliver loves to barely eat.

After breakfast I thought I'd spoil them more and take them toy shopping.

If you ever want little kids to like you and chant "UNCLE DENNIS IS THE BEST" so that the whole restaurant can hear, just tell them you want to take them to Toys R' Us.

Correction: Oliver: "Toys R' POOP R' Us!"

Photobucket

I used to looooove Toys R Us when I was little.

Both boys wanted stuffed animals.

Leo found himself a snake and some hot wheels.

Ollie found himself a bunny and was riding it around the store.

Both were quite happy I think.

Yay spoiled boys.

And then I drove back to San Francisco and flew home to NYC. Which is where I am now.

You can read more about Leo and Oliver on Charleen's blog here.

Baby Oliver!

Stopped in to say hi to Tim, Charleen, and Baby Leo in Sacramento.

Charleen's about to have another kid.

They're thinking about naming him Oliver.

Charleen loves the name. Tim is iffy.

I LOVE the name.

I LOVE Oliver.

EVERYONE LOVES OLIVER.

I have started calling the unborn baby Oliver.

I think Tim is annoyed.

Sactown

I scored some gigs in SF and at Stanford so I cruised up to Sacramento Sunday morning to visit Charleen, Tim and Not-So-Baby Leo.

It was an easy drive. Took five hours.

Saw some mountains.

Smelled some cows.

Saw some Leo.

Baby Leo is so cute/Xmas foods make me fat

Little Leo has the fanciest little bike a toddler could ever have.

Meatballs = fatness.

Meatballs and ziti covered and cheese = ultimate fatness.

Also we have crabs.

And delicious sandwiches available in untoasted and panini-ed versions.

And midday clam snacks.

And a stuffed pork tenderloin.

And an egg-cheese surprise.

And more pork. This time in chop-form.

And lamb shanks.

Hello I am obese.

Weekend in Review

Max's Birthday!

Max decided to have his birthday shindig Friday Night in Echo Park in a tiny crowded bar with a DJ who refused to play Madonna.

Celebrity sightings? None.

Wonderfully drunken pictures of Max? Zero.

Some scenes from Echo Park:

I have no idea who the creepy man in the creepy moustache is.

Fun times.

Not really.

But I love Max.

Felix comes to town!

On Saturday, everyone's favorite semi-Sasian was in town.

We watched Mean Girls.

Everyone thinks that movie is so great. It really isn't.

Everyone thinks that L.Lo is so great. She kind of sucks.

Also, she looks like crap on the latest Vanity Fair cover.

Baby Leo!

Sunday, Baby Leo and his parents Charleen (our cousin) and Tim (not our cousin) drove down from Sacremento to play with us. Baby Leo is quite possibly the biggest baby I have ever seen. He's about 7 months old and weighs 20 pounds. Almost as much as our thanksgiving turkey (and almost as delicious). Charleen and Tim brought Kristy and I to a delectable meal at Louise's Trattoria in Santa Monica. (I actually think they arrived on Saturday but I'm too lazy to go back and change pictures and text and everything now.)

At first I was scared Little Leo would vomit or poop on me, but as time went by the charming little fucker wore me down and now I love him. Maybe more than Zoe. No. Not more than Zoe. Equals.

We got him started on some reading:

And Kristy demonstrated her stellar babysitting skills:
