So I was originally going to spend my first wedding-free weekend off relaxing at home and recharging before this next month of epic weddings (Newport this weekend, Tahoe next, then France, then Italy, and then finally London...) but I got home from St. John Wednesday afternoon...and on Wednesday night the Sweet Baby Jesus dropped a pair of tickets to the VMAs in my lap.
So I booked last minute tix to LA. And came in Saturday night for the show on Sunday.
We were soyyyy excited...
How much do we LOVES AlyParker's hat?
As we were cruising down sunset to a pre-VMA brunch at SoHo House (obviously)...
We passed by a VMA billboard and SQUEALED...
After brunch, we headed to the Beverly Hills Hotel where Noops (who is now a fabulous VP at MTV) had a beautiful suite for us to get dressed in.
Do you remember that scene in Notting Hill where the family and friends all meet Julia Roberts at the dinner party and act all cool but then the second she leaves they all SCREAM...that's what happened when Noops and Corrado left the room to go get iced coffee.
LOVE these two and can't wait to shoot their wedding in Mexico in November! (squeeaaalllll)
The BHH has a step-and-repeat and of course we can't resist that isht.
We then cruised over to the venue, the LA Forum in fabulous Inglewood.
As we approached our specially designated parking area we saw the screaming crowds gathered outside the beginning of the red carpet. More than one person asked if I was Jeremy Lin. All look same. I'll take it. (And of course Miss Aly already looks like a celebrity anyway.)
We loves breezing past lines of cars with our special VIP parking pass!
We parked among SUVs and limos all dropping off their celebrity guests.
Then while waiting for doors to open we all updated social media to Tag N' Brag. Sad that our world is now like this. But kind of hilarious. I heart Aly's face.
We were the first ones in the venue...it looked prettttty awesome.
They were busy "training" the TV audience. Did you know that for shows like this they cast every single person that you see on TV surrounding the stage??? That's why you never see people holding cell phones and taking annoying pictures like at a regular concert!
These were our original seats... had a pretty great view of everything.
But then partway through the concert while we were walking around to get
drinks and snacks (there were lots of commercial breaks and we had
access to open bar and food - yay) some lady saw us and thought we were
tall and pretty and gave us a pair of even better seats right behind
where all the B-list celebs were sitting!
We LOOOOVES Ariana Grande.
@NickiMinaj your new song is totally stupid...
Also, you are a ladydouche.
But we LOVES "Bang Bang"...
Oh hayyy @Coolio and @GwenStefani... (just kidding I know you are @SnoopDogg. @GwenStefani new music needed, was your last hit that stupid fiddler on the roof song?)
Greetings @KatyPerry! (btw, HATES your Birthday song...but not as much as I hate ROAR.)
@TaylorSwifty, you are fabulous.
The camera crews were everywhere. It was interesting to see the show on TV later. It's totally fun and thrilling to be there...but it looks 20 times more exciting on TV...
@JimCarrey, @AlyParkerisTerrible would like to date you. #totesserious. #itsgonnahappen.
Congratulations @ArianaGrande!!!!!
@SamSmith did a BEAUUTIFUL song.
We went outside for a beer break and gorgeous sunset.
And came back and almost missed @Usher!!!
Thank god we could watch it back on TV later.
On our way back to our seats we passed by the paparazzi section with their crazy lenses. Pretty neat I thought.
I have barely heard of 5 Seconds to Summer or whatever they're called but apparently they're the new OneDirection.
LOOOOOK it's @KimKardashian and family right in front of me!!!
Kim was with her Jenner sisters. They had bodyguards on both sides of them at all times. Funny when celebs need bodyguards separating them from other celebs also.
@Mileyyyyyy
@JLOBOOTY
@IGGYAZALEA
@JAYSOOOONDerulo
If I were AmandaBynes I would say "@DemiLovato your hair is ugly."
Hi Jimmmmmmmmyfallon
Ok clearly i am just being lazy about thinking and typing now
Miley won an award and let this homeless hunk speak in her place in an attempt to bring attention to homeless people in LA...
It was a sweet moment.
There was also a funny off-camera moment when the tranny from OrangeIsTheNewBlack did a little dance for the audience and everyone loved it.
And JayZ and Beyonce literally did not show up until the very end when it was time for her performance. Some lucky seat-filler got to sit with the celebs for the entire show! Bey herself never sat in the audience! They are just WAY too famous!
There was a tense moment where EVERYONE saw Kim walk right by JayZ without saying hi. (He flaked on her wedding.)
Beyonce's performance was of course phenomenal.
I loved this moment when JayZ gave her the Vanguard Award! I hope they stay together.
I also like how since it was the end people finally took their phones out since they were no longer at risk of being booted.
It was SO much fun. Poor Jesse had to miss it because he got food poisoning and had to watch it from home on the toilet. Jesse we missed you!!!!
After the show we were supposed to go to the 1Oak afterparty. But of course that was cancelled due to the preVMA SHOOTING there the night before. (Thanks Chris Brown! You're the worst!)
So instead we headed to the last half hour of this rooftop party TheKnot was throwing.
It was almost empty...Sunday night y'all!
But party hostess Miss Rebecca was there and that's who we really only wanted to see anyway!
And we LOVES when our friends save us a whole assortment of delicious whores de orves!!!!!
Then we went to the Abbey and pigged out.
THE END. Headin' back to NYC now!
