The Standard (again), Kampuchea, and Los Feliz!

Melanie (Megoon's superfun future sister-in-law) and I have been making plans to spend time together and bond before Meghan's wedding (Saturday) and our busy schedules just haven't allowed it. I'm in Norway. She's in Vegas. I'm in Dallas. She's in Miami. I'm in LA. She's in Indiana.

Basically, we're crazy.

Well finally a week before the big day, things worked out and we happened to be in the same neighborhood at the same time. She texted me while I was at Splash Happy Hour saying she was at the Standard Beer Garden. Yay!

I had just been there the night before but it is a lovely place and I was happy to walk two blocks to meet up with my favorite Blake Lively clone.

We had a random "celebrity" sighting. The husband of one of the Real Housewives of New York supposedly (I don't watch the show)...

Beers beers beers. It's been a good week.

Afterwards we headed off to our respective homes to regroup and chow down.

I met up with Tim and Tom and Mags for some yummy Cambodian-ish food at Kampuchea in the LES.

(It's really really good.)

Then we decided to stay LES because Noops had informed us of some epic DJ playing at Los Feliz just a few blocks away. Love it when I'm stumbling distance from my home!

So Melanie looks like Blake Lively and Blake Lively looks like Ke$ha and therefore Melanie looks like Ke$ha so when we're on a dancefloor and I see her walk into the room I can't help but imagine her singing, "Now the party don't start til' I walk in!!!"

So fun!

Everyone took turns buying shotz.

And it was one epic song after the next.

Amazing night!

Most awful dream

Oh my god I just woke up from the most awful dream I think I've ever had.

I dreamed that I was going to get the death penalty tonight.

Why? For three main charges: filing false documents stating I had abdominal pain when I didn't really, laughing too loud, and peeing in the shower.

It was awful.

I was laughing when the judge sentenced me because I thought it was all so ridiculous. But then it hit me. I had about 5 hours before I was due at the lethal injection room and I went through all my things and picked out things to bring over to the post office to mail to my friends. I was picking a bunch of DVDs to send to Danny (specifically my DVD of The Covenant) and my giant stuffed frog (Pfat the Frog) to Smileyjohn and a bunch of my favorite expensive shirts and D&G Hoodie to Dr Dan and my taco costume to Connie.

And then I updated my facebook status to say I was getting the death penalty and NOBODY BELIEVED ME and wrote the most awful things on my wall like "Congratulations" and "Sucks man! LOL".

I woke up basically crying.

I have never been more happy to be alive. And awake.

This weekend is going to be wonderful. Campus Dance. And Megoon is getting MARRIED!

Alright, I'm off to pick up my car and drive up to RI!

Jay gets booted, Rhode Island weeps.

Our hometown hero RJR got plenty of screen time last night on the season premiere of The Bachelorette.

But in the end he failed to make an impression on Ally.

(A haircut might have helped...)

And was one of the first to go home.

At least he left with some dignity.

He was articulate and charming and pretty classy all the way through (though he did call her "sweetie" about 5 times which made me cringe a little), but he didn't do anything to embarrass himself or make himself look superdouchey, which definitely cannot be said for many of the other guys.

Ally gave her first impression rose to Roberto.

I would have given him one too.

He's dreamy.

The Standard Beer Garden

I've heard wonderful things about the Standard Hotel's Beer Garden. Never been. But everyone loves it.

So Kristen organized an after-work happy hour last Thursday as it was supposed to be a beauuuuutiful late afternoon.

And it was.

And everyone else had the same idea too.

The line to get in went on for miles.

After about 20 minutes or so we finally did get in.

Ze place vas cvowded.

And though the line had deterred all our other little friends...Zameer and Noops live about a block away and arrived as soon as the pandemonium died down.

Soon everyone became new best friends and ate pretzels and drinked beers.

We LOVES the beer garden.

We also loves Kristen's cubicle-mate John.

Danny visits NYC

So right before I went to LA and Dallas, Danny came to visit NYC for a few days.

Woooo!

We met up with Zameer.

Ate meatballs.

Chicken.

Pastas.

Dumplings.

Lounged around Central Park.

And got our portraits done for $10 each.

Beware scary child-rapist Danny!

Oh god, after seeing his I was filled with dread.

This all reminded me of the time TL and I went to the Getty and tried our hand at portraiture. It was not pretty...

Oh yay I'm wonky-eyed!

More food.

And wine.

And then it we went to meet up with some of several other LA friends who were visiting.

Fun!
