B.O.T. - Megoon goes away

Last night we bid farewell to our little Megoon. (She moves home to New Yohrk next week.) (Tear.)

And lots of the kiddies are leaving for the 4th of July weekend and that too is sad.

But there is always burgers and fries to make us happy.

And beer.

And MikeSacks.

Overall it was a happy joy-filled evening.

And in a follow-up to the events from last week, I met Mysto Activision Boy.

He was NOT ATTRACTIVE. Had a horrendous New Jersey accent that he actually PLAYED UP because I think he thought it sounded COOL and EXOTIC. And also he was 30.

Something I seriously do not understand because the girls who set me up are totally cute.

Seriously, Chrispy making his typical ugly face is better looking than this ATVI guy.

A McDonald's binge was definitely in order.

Maybe we'll have better luck next week...

Ciao!

Ultimate Meatball Goodness

We drove Bobby's sweet new convertible through Boystown today.

Also we indulged in some fist-sized meatballs at Al Gelato.

SUPERMAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11111

Naia, bless her beautiful beating heart, invited us to the Family & Friends Premiere of SUPERMAN RETURNS up at the Warner Brothers lot yesterday afternoon.

As we pulled up to Gate 5, there was a brief moment of horror when my name "wasn't on the list". (Cue seizure-inducing flashbacks to Naia's birthday party.)

Luckily, it was all just a mistake and it turned out that the list-checker girl was a moron with the reading skills of a blueberry muffin.

We arrived to a packed theater (500-ish people) and were forced to sit near the front, which actually turned out to be yay because Bryan Singer himself was there to introduce his movie.

He was very cute and nervous.

The movie opened to screams and cheers and it really is the only way to watch a superhero movie.

The opening credits sent chills through my entire body.

They were sooooo good.

We watched probably the first hour of the movie all giggling and giddy and stupid, still not believing that we were actually watching SUPERMAN.

Oh it is good.

Brandon Routh? Gooooooood.

When the credits finally rolled 2 1/2 hours later, the house lights came on, there was a standing ovation, and Brandon Routh and Kevin Spacey "surprised us" by stepping out of the shadows and onto the stage.

It took several minutes for the applause to die down.

Afterwards there was a reception, at which Naia was that girl.

Also........there was wine.

In the far more articulate and wit-filled words of the great Megoon:

"As far as the movie goes, I can't give an unbiased review. You will not have it introduced by an endearingly, pants-crappingly nervous Bryan Singer. Nor will Brandon Routh and Kevin Spacey bound on stage afterwards, to tout our presence and support and explain what those little green men in the HBO First Look special were doing behind the Man of Steel.

That said, you'll still see the close-up of a bullet bouncing off Superman's eye, and all of Parker Posey's batty hairstyles. The movie was pretty awesome."

WE SAW SUPERMAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

NAIA WE LOVE YOU

BLACKOUT THURSDAY

It was quite possibly the best Blackout Thursday yet, because at the very end of the night...I scored A DATE!!!!

A blind date, yes. But a date nonetheless.

It all went down very serendipitously.

We were at Cabo, it was loud, sweaty, expensive, and smelled a little bit like unwashed scrotums.

2-for-1 drinks would have been nice...

But we didn't make it in time.

Once the boys arrived, the executive decision was made to retreat to Q's. This turned out to be, I think, the best idea ever.

There was the usual beer and foodfest...

And beerfest...

And making-Chrispy-look-not-unattractive-fest...

...and more food.

And then we milled around, checking out hotties, of which there is definitely no shortage at Q's.

One stunning brunette in particular, caught our interest and we became mildly obsessed with her.

Brianne did a couple drive bys, while Chris and I just gawked from a distance.

Eventually Aly made her way over to where the hot girl and her friends were hanging and struck up a conversation with the cute blonde girl-friend.

As soon as I saw this, I whizzed around the room and joined them.

Turns out cute girl and Aly work in the same office building in Beverly Hills. (Total coincidence, they'd never seen each other before last night.)

Also turns out that cute girl and stunner-friend were checking ME out because I am giant.

In the end we all became friends. I convinced cute girl and hot girl that they need headshots. and that I'd shoot them both for the same price. Numbers were exchanged. AND they decided they wanted to set me up with THEIR gay friend (not present at the bar).

Totally Epic.

After returning home around midnight, I received a call from said friend and a lunch date was tentatively set up.

And it turns out he works in Santa Monica...at ACTIVISION with Chris and Doug!

And there you have it, mysto.

P.S. Chris please do some recon work and make sure he's not ugly.

Networking is fun!

Last night Kristy and I were invited to the Sunset Trocadero for a mixer hosted by LA Casting (I now buy ad space on their site so I'm special and get a nametag and everything). It was open bar.

We schmoozed and boozed and I think did a pretty decent job of planting seeds for future clientele. There were a whole lot of extremely hot actors and actresses and Kristy was the perfect wingperson.

Also we saw ANGELA from THE OFFICE!!!!

In real life she is a beautiful shade of blonde. She has friends (ugly ones, but friends nonetheless). And she SMILES!

Engrish, Dumprings, and Fun in the Sun...

Woke up and drove out to the Far East (Glendale/Monterey Park area) for some delicious hangover brunch with Kristy and Sherwin at Din Tai Fung (AKA Dumpling Heaven).

The wait was about an hour so we entertained ourselves by perusing the fine wares at the adjacent Asian Superstore.

There is very little in this world quite as satisfying as finding some high-quality Engrish:

Also they sell dried, fried baby crab-heads! YUMMMMYYY!!!!

The dumplings were well worth the wait...

Following this feast, former birthday girl Katie and I headed down to Manhattan Beach to celebrate William's 24th with a little beachside BBQ.

There were various men in various stages of undress and let's just say it was wonderful.
